Da Shark Shack (75-5566 Alii Dr Suite A)
About
Flavor Straight from the Kona Coast
Steps away from the crashing surf of the Kailua-Kona shoreline, Da Shark Shack serves as a no-frills refuge for locals and sun-drenched travelers alike. This open-air spot captures the essence of Hawaii’s casual lifestyle, trading white tablecloths for high-top seating and the scent of salt air mixed with grilling aromatics.
Island Favorites and Casual Bites
The menu leans heavily into fresh, local inspiration. You will find their signature fish tacos topped with house-made slaw and zesty crema, providing a crisp, cooling contrast to the tropical humidity. The ahi poke bowls are a staple here, featuring thick-cut, butter-soft tuna sourced from regional waters. Whether you are refueling after a snorkeling trip or just looking for a low-key dinner along Alii Drive, the focus remains on keeping things simple and high-quality.
The Rhythm of the Shack
The energy here is distinctly laid back, defined by the clinking of cold beer bottles and the occasional hum of passing mopeds. It is an ideal space for those who prefer their meals with a side of ocean breeze rather than polished service. Be aware that the space is compact; during peak hours, you might find yourself elbow-to-elbow with regulars, but that only adds to the community feel. Parking along the main coastal strip can be a bit of a hunt, so plan to arrive early to snag a spot, especially as the sun begins to dip below the horizon.

We had an excellent service. Food was great. Local beer options (which we loved). We’ll definitely come again and again!

Freakin unbelievable place....slow down... relax...be nice.. You can find good meal price...the price at small restaurants may seem expensive for one person...but one $23 meal fed me and the wife...good Berger and fries cost me less than my regular hangout back in texas....enjoy!!!

The beer was cold. The food was hot. The bar tender was friendly. Hamburger was tasty, the ahi and shrimp bites were seasoned nicely. All was good. The other patrons were friendly too. The only negative was that someone threw up close by, and the smell waffted into the restaurant.

Love this little bar and grill. Chill and grab an amazing burger and some oni bites, or just sip on a Pina Colada or cold beer. The burgers are actually some of the best we've had on the island - no joke. Great service and chill atmosphere. We make it a stop whenever we're on this side of the island.

Loved this spot for a couple of sunset drinks. We tried four and all were good. The ones with vanilla cream are super sweet. The mai tai was great. Get it for the cherry for the geckos! The guys that worked here were super nice and attentive. A great couple hours people (and gecko) watching at sunset.
