About
A Taste of Home in the Heart of Kona
Tucked away from the heavy tourist traffic of Ali'i Drive, Cathee's Kitchen brings a genuine, no-frills approach to comfort food that resonates with the local Kailua-Kona community. This spot isn't about fancy presentation or white-tablecloth service; it is a place where the scent of slow-cooked meats and savory island-inspired sides fills the air as soon as you step through the door.
The Flavors of the Island
The menu focuses on hearty, soul-satisfying dishes that honor local ingredients. You will often find patrons gathering here for generous portions of traditional plates, featuring recipes that favor depth of flavor over modern fusion trends. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed—the kind of environment where you don't mind getting a little sauce on your fingers while listening to the low hum of conversation and the clatter of kitchen activity.
Navigating Your Visit
If you are planning to swing by for a midday meal, keep in mind that the parking lot can get quite snug during the lunch rush. It is a popular hub for residents looking for a quick, filling bite without the pomp of high-end resort dining. Whether you are a local heading back to the office or a visitor looking to step off the beaten path, the kitchen’s straightforward cooking provides a refreshingly grounded culinary experience in the middle of West Hawaii.

Bought the mild salsa and it was like cold, blended tomatoes. No flavor, not spicy in the least. We added spices and salt. Not recommended

I bought some Salsa from Safeway in Hilo... it was the BEST Salsa I have had since I left Texas 2 years ago. I thought I was going to have to make it here... So glad I bought it !

Had Cathee’s Kitchen “medium” salsa for the first time tonight. Couldn’t have been more mild. Suspect it was mislabeled? At least I hope that was the case. Otherwise, maybe a jalapeño supply chain disruption?? In any case a huge salsa failure tonight. I’ll get over it, but I thought someone should know. Hopefully an isolated incident. No disrespect to Cathee or her kitchen minions intended.

Come on now. $11 for a bag of corn chips? Unless you're growing and harvesting the corn every single day, dehydrating it, grinding it into flour, and then baking them off yourself, there's no way to justify that pricing. No wonder your shelves are fully stocked every time we keep walking right on by.
