Some of the best food we had! Could use some spice though it was more sweet than spicy but over all was still very delicious!! There is not much space to sit inside so I would recommend to take it to go

Just incredible!!! Broke Da Mouth Grindz is everything you think it will be and more! The food BROKE DA MOUTH and left me wanting more. Not to mention, the staff were killing it when turning tables! I went with the classic, Spicy Garlic Chicken. For me, it wasn't spicy at all. So, I would greatly encourage those on the fence of which Garlic dish to order, go spicy! It is PACKED with flavor... and did I mention, it broke da mouth! I added the kimchi cucumbers for my vegetable and they were fire. I even went back for the pork belly because dayummm. As always, expect a line. Because locals and tourists love this place! I opted to eat the food by the ocean and in the rainforest at my B+B. So, take the food to a cozy corner of Hawaii and bite down! You will be missing out on a local staple, so RUN to this amazing restaurant once you arrive on the Big Island!!!

The food is delicious. We had the popular trio. It was so much food. It could feed at least 2 people. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly (but I wish the shells were removed first). The beef short ribs were sp tender they melt in your mouth. The worst part of the experience was the limited seating and no air conditioning.

I really wanted to like this place and had it on our list to visit, but the overall experience was disappointing. The restaurant is simply too small for the number of customers they’re trying to accommodate. It was packed, crowded, and extremely uncomfortable. There was even a sign on the front door warning customers that the A/C was broken and that it was hot inside. Sure enough, it was hot and humid throughout our entire visit (not helped by the fans on the lowest speed). I genuinely felt bad for the employees who had to work in those conditions all day. The wait for food was long. Sitting in a crowded room with broken A/C for that long made the experience even more unpleasant. As for the food, I wouldn’t particularly recommend it. The fried chicken was fine, the mac salad was just okay, and the corn was strangely served cold. Nothing we ordered justified the hype or stood out enough to make up for the overall experience. What really stood out were the multiple signs warning customers not to be rude and threatening consequences for bad behavior. In hindsight, that should have been a red flag. I completely support treating staff with respect, but when customers are packed into an overcrowded restaurant with broken A/C and long wait times, frustration is understandable. It felt like management was more focused on addressing customer behavior than resolving obvious operational issues. To make matters worse, the trash was overflowing. At a bill of roughly $150 for five adults, I expect a clean, comfortable dining environment and a smoother overall experience. Also, one of our meals was incorrect. I understand that running a restaurant is difficult, but if you’re charging $20-30/meal prices, customer comfort, cleanliness, and basic maintenance should be priorities. Between the heat, crowding, overflowing trash, long wait times, average food, and overall atmosphere, this felt more like social media hype than a restaurant delivering an experience that justifies its prices. Unfortunately, it’s not a place I’d choose to visit again.

Food was good. Fairly typical taste and flavors. Atmosphere is below average. Prices are average. Portions are generous. Music was odd mix. Parking was easy and free.

So Delicious!! We arrived a couple of minutes before opening time and there were already 2 other groups waiting to get in and the line kept filling up the entire time we were there. So arrive early if you can. This was the first place I saved from IG and I’m happy to say it lived up to the hype! My husband and I shared a 2 meat platter. Ordered the spicy garlic furikake chicken (favorite!!), pork belly fat adobo, spicy kimchi fried rice and a side of sweet potato with bacon. Servings are very generous, so you can easily share a platter or save some for later

Coming to Hawaii, I didn’t realize that I would have some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. And I’ve been to the South. If you want island style food with generous portions, go to Broke Da Mouth Grindz. We got the Garlic Furikake Chicken with the pork adobo fried rice with a side of mashed purple sweet potato. The chicken was like any other chicken I’ve ever tasted. Juicy, crispy, flavorful. The rice was out of this world. And the mashed sweet potato was a perfect mix of salty and sweet. They had seating available to eat and a really cool local vibe. If we had a car we would have eaten here many more times. The staff were very kind.

Found this spot on Yelp and Google and had to try it while visiting Kona for some Hawaiian food. Located in a shopping center, it gets pretty busy, no cash card only and no ac inside. The line can get long but it goes with the flow of getting the food and tables opening up to eat. The pies looked good and huge for like $26 but definitely shareable. We got the 3 combo plate with the most popular - braised beef, garlic shrimp, and furikake chicken and just with white rice. Then my dad wanted the pork belly belly fat plate with white rice and I got him a mini. They each come with a side and I asked what the most popular were and they were the egg macaroni salad and sweet potato salad with bacon and eggs. Served cold and really good. They have water and sodas for sale too. I really liked their crack water sauce to dip all of the meat in, it’s a nice sour and /spicy vinegar. There’s plenty of parking and lots of turn around. Plenty of leftovers to last the rest of your trip!

Stepped in here straight from the airport. straight from the airport and it was a solid choice. The furikake chicken and prawns were really good and flavorful. Fries were just okay-bit too thick for my liking-but the portion sizes were generous. Overall, a satisfying first food stop in Kona.
