About
A Cool Retreat in the Heart of Kailua-Kona
Finding a classic scoop after a long day under the tropical sun is a rite of passage when exploring the Big Island. Located right in the bustling center of Kailua-Kona, this Baskin-Robbins provides a reliable, air-conditioned sanctuary for locals and tourists alike who crave that familiar taste of the world-famous 31 flavors.
What to Expect at the Counter
The space is bright and functional, carrying the signature pink and blue aesthetic that defines the brand. Whether you are hunting for the nostalgia of Mint Chocolate Chip or the rich, buttery texture of Pralines 'n Cream, the chilled glass display cases offer a vibrant kaleidoscope of options. It is an ideal stop for families wandering through the Henry Street commercial area, especially when the humidity starts to climb. Keep in mind that the parking lot can get quite busy during the peak afternoon hours, but the turnover is generally quick.
Why It’s a Local Favorite
Beyond the standard cones, this spot is a go-to for custom ice cream cakes, which are a staple for birthday celebrations across the Kona district. You will hear the familiar hum of the industrial freezers and the cheerful clink of waffle cones being prepared throughout the day. It’s not just about the sugar; it is about that quick, consistent cold treat that punctuates a day of snorkeling at Kahalu’u or coffee farm tours in the hills above town. If you’re looking for a no-fuss dessert that delivers on quality and variety, this is your primary destination on the west side of the island.

I love Baskin Robbins. Just so happen this time I was disappointed because I went in specifically for the advertised special. The Dubai Chocolate Sunday poster was calling my name. But, when I asked to get the special that's on the door, the girl said "Sorry. We don't have that anymore. That was done last week." I'm sorry but if your specials are done, Please take down the advertising. People like me will get their hopes up for nothing. I ended up getting a mango sunday. This was at the Kailua-Kona location.

Great ice cream and much better hours than some of the local places, honestly. Store was neat and clean. Enjoyed our time there.

First time I've ever been to a BR it was..... ok, I guess. The service was nice and the ice cream was good but not very many flavors, I thought BR was known for 31 flavors. I picked a flavor but left a little sad.

Sunday afternoon, the line went out the door, even though I was halfway through the line it still took 30 minutes to get my ice cream and it looked like they were kind of just doing their own thing with other tasks I mean they were working hard but they weren't really serving us. When I finally got to choose they were out of the flavor I wanted. one thing they were doing was get two scoops and get a free waffle cone but they were out of waffle cones. Finally get to pay and the price wasn't the cheapest with one scoop and a sugar cone either. I'm sure it's not like this everyday but I leave this review just from this one experience.

The male waiter here is very rude. He was quite idle. I'm a delivery person. There was no ice cream left, and I asked if he could tell the customer that the ice cream was out of stock and what could be substituted. He immediately refused me, saying that I should call myself. He said his English was not good. He didn't offer any help at all and was very rude.

We stopped in here about 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted and helped promptly by a nice young man that smiled and made eye contact. I ordered one scoop of Baseball Nut. The ice cream was nice and firm, like hard ice cream is supposed to be. The seating was almost full, we took one of the 2 empty tables. Everything looked clean and organized. A very nice treat on a Sunday afternoon 😋🍨
