About
A Sweet Landmark on the Road to Hana
If you find yourself winding through the lush, misty landscapes of Haiku on your way toward the legendary Hana Highway, the aroma of warm, freshly baked banana bread is your cue to pull over. Halfway to Hana is less of a destination and more of an essential pit stop, serving as the unofficial fuel station for travelers navigating the island's most famous coastal route.
Taste the Maui Coast
This roadside stand is world-renowned for its dense, moist banana bread, typically made from local apple bananas that offer a creamier, more concentrated sweetness than their mainland counterparts. You will often see a modest line forming alongside the jungle greenery, where the sound of the wind through the bamboo creates a natural backdrop to the morning rush. Beyond the signature loaves, the small shop often stocks local seasonal fruits and cold drinks perfect for the tropical humidity.
Traveler Tips for the Haiku Stretch
Keep in mind that this is a true roadside experience; parking can be tight, and the shoulder space is limited, so approach the turnout with caution as you head east. It is the kind of spot where you grab a loaf wrapped in simple parchment, climb back into your car, and tear into the bread while it is still steaming, ignoring the crumbs that inevitably end up on your floor mats. It is simple, unpretentious, and completely representative of the slow-paced, bountiful nature of Maui’s North Shore. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a regular making the trek toward the rainforest, grabbing a slice here is a rite of passage.

Great little spot to stop at when you are half way to Hana. Some of the best banana bread on the island! I'm so sad that this amazing bread is so far away because I'd be eating it all the time! Definitely worth a stop!

One of the best stops on the Road to Hana. The banana bread is incredible, an absolute must do! We also tried the mango smoothie, very tasty. Friendly service, and average cost. Add this to your list of stops!

Such a great stop! We were so happy they weren’t out of banana bread because the banana bread sundae was absolutely delicious. We also tried a few other treats including a really great smoothie. They were out of the pineapple smoothie, but suggested the mango instead, and it was a fantastic alternative. Everything came out quickly, and every single person we interacted with was warm and friendly even the gentleman helping cars park in the lot. A lovely experience all around and definitely worth the stop!

Bought the best banana bread that I've tasted from here! They had just baked it, was still warm. We also decided to try the coffee shop called Maui Sunrise Beverage Co that is next to the halfway to hana shop, it was indeed very tasty

We attempted to go to fullway to Hana but because of our tight schedule we stopped our journey here, Half way to Hana! We saw a long line of people standing in front of the store! We were curious what was all about! Yep, it’s a food store!! Mostly, refreshment type of store and we had a bowl of shredded ice and banana 🍌 bread! My wife’s friend told us to get banana cake, that’s why we did it! Since we were full at that time, we kept it nicely and brought it to my friend’s place in Honolulu but we forgot to eat it there… later they said that it was the best banana bread that they’ve ever had! We were so happy to hear that, however, we have to try it again next time for ourselves for sure! 😁😅😄 Make sure get your banana bread 🍞 Cheers 🥂

Halfway to Hana is the perfect pit stop on your Road to Hana adventure! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the banana bread is absolutely amazing—moist, buttery, soft, and packed with flavor. It was still warm when we got it, with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the perfect treat to enjoy while taking in the stunning views along the drive. If you're making the journey, this stop is a must!

Banana bread was moist and full of banana flavor. Pineapple smoothie was really good and tasted fresh pineapple. Price total $20.85. The bread was still moist and tasted good the next day. However I wish it would taste buttery. I liked this banana bread a bit better than the one we bought up the road in Ke’anae.

We stopped at the place following the recommendations online about their banana bread. It was ok but too sweet for my taste. The banana bread cost 10$ and if you are paying with credit card you pay extra 4%. They have picnic tables and parking spots. Nice, no more.
