Colleen's At The Cannery
About
A Culinary Anchor in the Heart of Haiku
Tucked away within the historic structure of the old Haiku Cannery, Colleen's serves as a vibrant community hub for locals and visitors navigating the road to Hana. Stepping inside, the space feels worn-in and welcoming, characterized by high ceilings and the low hum of conversation that signals a kitchen firing on all cylinders.
Farm-to-Table Roots and Island Flavors
Chef Colleen Gogue has built a reputation on elevated comfort food that prioritizes fresh, regional ingredients. The menu often shifts with the seasons, but the kitchen is widely recognized for its consistent execution of island-inspired classics. The macadamia-crusted catch of the day is a staple, offering a perfect crunch that gives way to tender, flaky white fish. If you arrive early enough, the breakfast options—specifically the fluffy, locally-sourced egg scrambles—are widely considered some of the best on this side of Maui.
The Atmosphere and Quirks
Expect a relaxed, unpretentious environment where the smell of sizzling garlic and fresh herbs drifts from the open kitchen. It is an ideal spot for those looking to escape the tourist-heavy zones for a meal that feels authentic to the Haiku lifestyle. A small note for diners: the space can get quite loud during peak dinner hours, so it is better suited for a lively social outing than an intimate, hushed conversation. Parking in the cannery lot is usually ample, but keep an eye out for the occasional rogue rooster wandering near the entrance—a quintessential reminder that you are deeply embedded in the rural charm of Upcountry Maui.

Delicious food and the portions are huge! Very surprised at how good this place is. Burgers and made with ground steak and fish and chips are homemade. Kale salad is very fresh with one of the best Caesar dressings I’ve had. Will visit again and again!

Pizza was good, especially the sauce and crust. Worth the wait. We had half Carnavale and half Sausage and Peppers. Servers were very good about refilling water glasses. But the fan over our table was the only one in the place NOT working; server said she would check on it, but never reported back. It was warm, there were flies, and it was noisy! I could not have a conversation with my partner across the table. We walked right in on a Tuesday in April and found a seat.

The food was next level. Large portions, great presentation, and delicious ingredients. We ordered the burger with blue cheese and bacon, it was 🔥 fire. The tacos were Cajon, which I didn't love, but I'll the other ingredients on the taco were fresh and colorful! Oh and the best fries ever!! Highly recommend 🤙🏼

Colleen's has good food, good portions and the staff is GREAT, very friendly and attentive. Had breakfast there, their burrito was awesome! Food took awhile but to be fair they were packed and it was pleasant enough that I didn't mind the wait. I would definitely go again. Their pastries looked amazing.

Colleen’s: an establishment where patrons can enjoy either a casual, diner experience or an upscale, full bar. Step inside and to your right you’ll find a timeless, family friendly diner. Go left, and you can enjoy a quaint, yet classy bar perfect for a date. The aromas in the room will certainly put anyone in the mood for a specialty cocktail. Their burgers burgers are delightful although i recommend you try their Reuben. I have had Reuben’s from many corners of the world, and the Reuben at Colleen’s made me cream my jeans. Also great if you or your special somebody has diet restrictions. Specifically gluten intolerances and dairy allergies.

Was recommended to go here from someone that I highly regard, and I am glad he spoke so highly of it! Awesome staff, atmosphere, foods and drinks! Especially on a cold evening! I was happy to join in the conversation the Haiku locals beings I am from Wailuku Heights and kind of have stayed in the same area. It was fun venturing outside of my comfort zone! Mahalo Colleen's . I also usually don't eat pizza (pizza'd too hard as a teenager) but yours was sooooo good!!! Lol. Mahalo for the warm souls, food and drink and a cold night!! Well, OUR cold. 🙃💜🌺

It was my first time having lunch here, and we picked a good time. We got there at 1:00 and got a corner "booth". Sarah and Josie both helped us out with taking our food and drink orders and bringing them out to us. Miles made us a delicious grilled Mahi salad, the best chicken salad sandwich I can remember having, and a grilled chicken sandwich. Oh, and the ginger mint tea was absolutely refreshing. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and it was a very nice time.

We stopped in to see the area and found this place. Very quaint and friendly. We ordered a tuna melt and the upcountry beef burger. Both were perfectly prepared and fresh. We shared an order of fries as the portion was very generous. Love the crispy battered fries. We picked up a couple of pastries for the road as they looked great and tasted just as great for breakfast the next day. Highly recommended.
