Aloha Aina BBQ
About
Island Soul in the Heart of Haiku
Finding a true taste of local Maui comfort can be a journey, but Aloha Aina BBQ delivers exactly what the soul craves. Located in the breezy, upcountry landscape of Haiku, this spot captures the laid-back essence of island living. The air here carries the faint, sweet scent of kiawe smoke, a signal that the grill is working hard to perfect those classic plate lunches that define Hawaiian culinary tradition.
The Feast of the Islands
At Aloha Aina, the focus is squarely on the grill. You will find generous portions of slow-marinated BBQ chicken and tender kalbi ribs that pull easily from the bone. These aren't just meals; they are the standard for authentic Maui-style BBQ. The signature macaroni salad is a mandatory side, creamy and perfectly chilled to balance the heat of the savory meats. If you are catching a break from a long drive along the Hana Highway, this is the essential stop to refuel.
Local Pace and Atmosphere
Expect a casual, open-air environment where the pace is governed by the sun rather than a clock. It is the kind of place where locals congregate for a quick, hearty lunch. Be mindful that during the midday rush, the parking lot can get a bit snug, so a little patience goes a long way. The vibe is unpretentious and stripped-back—there are no frills here, just genuine hospitality and food that reminds you why you came to the islands in the first place. Whether you are a resident or just passing through the lush Haiku greenery, pull up a chair, enjoy the hum of the neighborhood, and dig into a plate that honors the ʻāina.

Legit Hawaiian BBQ! Love the smoked chicken drumsticks and wings, wasabi potato Mac salad and best cornbread in town. The soy smoked tofu is good if you or your significant other is vegetarian. Strong recommend!

Our entire group ordered from this food truck and we all raved about it! I didn’t get a photo of our meal because we ate it so fast but we did go back for more corn bread! High quality ingredients and delicious recipes!

First time here and it did not disappoint! We got ribs, chicken, and pulled pork to try out and I had to say this is the first time I’ve ever had dry rub ribs that were moist as was the chicken. The pulled pork was incredibly delicious and would recommend if you are a pulled pork fan. The food truck was visibly clean, the staff was nice and took care of us right away.

The food was amazing! I wanted to go order a second plate! Had the 2 meat plate with HuiHui chicken and Kalhua Pork. The smoke flavor, spice, and tanginess was perfect! The cornbread was savory and not too sweet, delicious. Will be back. Great addition to Oakshire, please don't leave!

We came to Oakshire today specifically to get food from Aloha 'Aina and it did not disappoint. The smokey flavor is addicting! My mom got some of the smoked tofu and I can see how that would scratch an itch for a vegan missing bbq. The pork belly is such a craveable dish and the ribs were cooked perfectly. The poke was a delightful surprise make of rockfish. It was so tender, wonderfully seasoned with wasabi and Korean chili flakes. It was so fresh! Definitely recommend! The owner is personable and very customer oriented. Please Eugene, help us keep this food truck in business!

Just to be clear about what about to say, I’m Texan. I’ve eaten at the top BBQ joints in the state including Franklins. I’ve been making my own bbq for as long as I can remember. Now.. This place has some of the best darn bbq I have ever tasted. The brisket was amazing, the sides were amazing.. that huli huli chicken? OMG. The pork belly is just non stop mouth watering delicious. I don’t care if you’re driving the Road to Hana for the tourist sites or whatever.. make the trip too try this food. You won’t regret it. Seriously. I’ve been back in Texas for two weeks, and have bbq a few times, and I still can’t stop thinking about that chicken and pork belly.

Literally the best food we have had during our stay on Maui. Better than MFH, which we can say with confidence as we ate there twice. Every single thing we ate was absolutely phenomenal and we will be going back AT LEAST twice before we leave. The smoked chicken was so crispy on the outside and I didn't have to work to get all the meat off the bone, it just fell right off. The Kalua pork was EXACTLY what you want from pulled pork, teeny bit of heat balanced perfectly by the coconut rice. The brisket melts in your mouth. We are not huge pork belly fans but being a BBQ truck, we had to try it....also phenomenal. The fern salad is indescribable. The coconut rice is sticky like sushi rice and flavored to perfection- not sweet or overly coconutty, balanced all the meats perfectly. The cornbread with guava butter was a perfect way to finish the meal. The green tea is also lovely, I don't like sweet drinks and it was only sweetened just enough to take the bitterness out of the green tea. 100000/10 would recommend, I love food and my husband laughed at me because I almost started crying when we were eating because it was so good. Oh, and lastly! THE PEOPLE!!! So so so so so nice, chill, helpful. Ugh I wish I could take this place and it's people home with us!!!

My wife and I have gone around 3 different islands in Hawaii over the last few weeks and as you might know, BBQ restaurants are all over Hawaii. But this place by far offered the best BBQ. Honestly we didn't expect much when we pulled over to grab something to eat after a hike. But once we ordered the 3 meat choice and tried it, we really loved the taste and how well things were prepared and cooked. We definitely recommend this place to anyone who's passing by:) Definitely order the Ahi fish and baby back ribs. The chicken was tasty too but these two were our favorites:)
