Bann Thai Restaurant
About
A Taste of Thailand in West Oahu
Stepping into Bann Thai, you are immediately met with the savory, sharp aroma of lemongrass and galangal simmering in clay pots. Located conveniently in the heart of Ewa Beach, this spot serves as a straightforward destination for those craving authentic Southeast Asian flavors without the pretense of fine dining.
The Kitchen Philosophy
The menu leans into traditional preparation methods, with the Panang Curry standing out as a local favorite for its rich, nutty peanut profile and tender cuts of meat. The chefs maintain a balance of sweet, salty, and heat that feels pulled directly from street-side stalls in Bangkok. You will hear the rhythmic clatter of woks hitting the high-heat burners, a sound that signals a freshly prepared meal rather than something pulled from a warming tray.
Know Before You Go
The space is functional and unpretentious, making it a reliable pick for a quick weekday lunch or a casual family dinner when you want to bypass the heavy tourist crowds of Waikiki. Keep in mind that the parking lot can get tight during peak dinner hours, so arriving slightly early is a smart play. The fluorescent lighting and simple table settings keep the focus entirely on the bowl in front of you—where it belongs. If you appreciate honest, bold spices and are exploring the diverse culinary landscape of the Leeward side, this kitchen offers a dependable, no-frills experience.

Easily comparable to the best Thai food we had in Bangkok. Seriously! This food is fantastic.

First time trying Bann Thai for takeout and everything was spot on. We ordered Summer Rolls, Tom Yum Soup with veggies, Pad See Ew with chicken, and Cashew Nut Chicken. The Tom Yum was outstanding - rich, aromatic, perfectly balanced. Every dish was well-seasoned without being too salty, which is surprisingly hard to find. Great portions, fresh ingredients, and the food traveled well. They even have a dedicated parking spot for to-go orders, which makes pickup quick and easy. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality Thai food on the west side. We’ll definitely be ordering again.

Great food, Large portions, and great prices. Gotta try their house specialty pork shank, their stuff wings are amazin and their hole fry fish with the spicy garlic sauce 😋 👌

Delicious. We tried the panaang curry, fried shrimp roles, green papaya salad, and pad Thai. Loved all of them. Very clean and friendly. Service was great. This will definitely be a favorite spot for us.

Being Thai, let me say it tasted like Mae made it! Kopkunka, our meals were great! Staff was amazing, very clean restaurant. My son and I ordered the fried chicken, beef fried rice, and beef pho with meatballs.

They didn't skimp on the meat and the price is cheap for Hawaii! Plus, they seem friendly. They even let me have/bring in my Starbucks drink I literally just bought a few minutes earlier from the one within the same shopping center! Evidently, they've been here two years already but only have so few reviews?! Help these guys out!

I’m a Thai food lover, and I have to say everything I had tasted terrible. No flavor, no heat, and it didn’t match the pictures that they have on their website. My papaya salad was basically shredded papaya, tomato and pure fish sauce poured over it no heat no peanuts no flavor. Vegetables in the green curry were burnt. My rice was very greasy and had regular cabbage in it. Worst Thai I’ve had so far, don’t waste your money here. No sorry or anything for my bad experience.
