Restaurant Bamboo
About
A Pearl City Staple for Local Comfort
When you find yourself roaming the streets of Pearl City, Restaurant Bamboo stands as a familiar stop for those chasing traditional local-style comfort food. This isn't a place for white-tablecloth service; it is a straightforward, no-frills kitchen where the focus remains entirely on generous portions and the kind of flavors that defined island dining for generations.
What to Expect on Your Plate
The menu draws heavily from the melting pot of Hawaii’s culinary history. You will find staples like savory fried noodles, crispy garlic chicken, and hearty lunch plates that arrive steaming and satisfying. The kitchen moves with a rhythmic efficiency, often filling the air with the sharp, appetizing scent of ginger and shoyu. It is the ideal environment for a quick lunch break or a low-key family dinner where the priority is getting fed well without any pretension.
The Neighborhood Atmosphere
Stepping inside, the room feels like a community hub. You might notice the hum of localized conversation and the clatter of plates against sturdy laminate tables. While the layout is modest and the parking situation in this busy pocket of Pearl City can occasionally demand a bit of patience, the trade-off is a meal that feels honest and accessible. It is the type of spot where the staff knows the regulars by name and the coffee is always pouring. Whether you are a local living nearby or just passing through the central O'ahu corridor, this is a reliable destination for a meal that hits the spot without the fanfare.

Not sure why others have said negative things about this place, but the food has been so good to me that I've gone back 5 times and even taken friends here. What I have personally tried: *Thai style huli huli chicken: this was absolutely wonderful, it was the special for the day and it was moist and went well in the spicy sauce they offered along wirh the sweet and tangy one. Went for the sticky rice for the side! *Nam Tok: perfect seasoning, had to attempt to make it myself but it just doesn't compare to here. I like to order this spicy. I've ordered this a second time because it was that good. *Kana moo Krab: Out of everything I have tried this one might be my least favorite just because the meat is a little more tough. That does not take away that it was still good. The chinese broccoli was also still nice and crunchy and not overcooked. *Basil fried rice with pork: Ate this along with the Nam Tok the first time I ordered it and it is very flavorful and filling. *Fried spring rolls: I originally ordered this for the table but they were so good I ate most of them. Very hot and the sauce you dip it in pairs perfectly. *Okinawa sweet potato lumpia: paired with the condensed milk and chocolate sauces, it was fried to crispy perfection and was delicious. *Boat noodles: ordered this with beef and extra tendon to go. They even packed all the sides in case I wanted to make it spicy. The ong choy and bean sprouts were nice and crunchy while the broth was very flavorful. Would definitely order again but want to try more dishes! *Thai tea: my friend and I both are sure to order this whenever we stopped by and whenever we ordered to go, would have to stop ourselves from finishing it too quickly before we got our order. What my friends have ordered that I got to try a bit of: *Chicken pad thai: one of the best pad thai I have had. My friend said it was on par with her favorite pad thai back in California.

Been there since it grand opening. The food is excellent and better than a lot of Thai food places. My favourite dishes include Thai fried rice with and without crab, fried calamari, pad see you and their spring rolls. They serve a variety of drinks include Thai iced tea, matcha, longyan juice and watermelon.

Had a late lunch, but the place was busy. I liked the drunken noodles and the stir fried eggplant. The adding of thai basil to the eggplant made the dish flavorful. I eat each piece of eggplant with a piece of basil. The deep fried chicken wings came right out of the fryer. Tastey, but on the dry side. I have had juicer wings. I would come back based on the 3 dishes we had.
