Island Flavors in the Heart of Pearl City
Stepping into Fresh Catch along the main stretch of Kamehameha Highway, you are greeted by the unmistakable scent of furikake and ocean-fresh ahi. This is not a place for white-tablecloth pretense; it is a bustling local institution where the steady hum of conversation matches the quick rhythm of the serving counter. If you are hunting for authentic Hawaiian-style poke, this is the destination.
The Poke Experience
Chef Reno Henriques built his reputation on quality, and that shines through in the rotating selection of poke. Whether you prefer your ahi tossed in a classic shoyu marinade, seasoned with spicy mayo, or topped with a generous dusting of crunchy limu and ogo, the consistency is legendary. The fish is always firm, never mushy, and cut into satisfying, substantial cubes that disappear quickly once you find a seat.
What to Expect
The layout is functional and designed for high turnover, which means lunch hours can get chaotic. Expect a line that snakes toward the door during the midday rush, and be prepared to hunt for a spot if you choose to dine in. It is a loud, active environment that captures the true pulse of the local food scene. For those planning a gathering, their plate lunches—often featuring garlic shrimp or kalua pig—are reliable staples that pack well for a picnic at a nearby park.
Parking in this busy section of Pearl City can be a bit of a challenge, so factor in a few extra minutes to navigate the lot. It is a minor inconvenience quickly forgotten once you take that first bite of fresh, island-caught poke that defines the spirit of this community.

I got the Ahi salad and the shoyu poke with some extra spice on the side (made my nose run…LOL) Service was friendly. He allowed me to taste the different poke to help me decide which I liked the best. You’ll need to get your poke to go.

A little on the more expensive side but so fresh and amazing! The Smoke Meat Plate lunch was absolutely ono and reasonably priced and their poké bowl was really good too but much more expensive. Gonna try their garlic chicken plate lunch next time!

The best poke on O’ahu! Period! I’ve been eating at Fresh Catch Pearl City for over a year every time I’m on island. I’m here for work almost every six weeks and make it a point to get dinner here every night before heading back to the hotel. The food is amazing and the folks that work there are even more amazing than the food. On a recent trip, I was injured and in the hospital for several days. A work colleague stopped in for Poke (as we always do after work) and they remembered us. When they found out I was hurt, they made me a special dish to help my recovery. This is above and beyond what customers service should be. It may sound strange, but I consider the folks at Fresh Catch Pearl City my family away from home. They certainly make me feel this is true. I highly recommend Fresh Catch in general, but stress that the Pearl City location is the example of excellence!
