Rodeo General Store

Rodeo General Store is one of those places that feels like the heart of Makawao. It's a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike, with plenty of aloha and friendly faces behind the counter. Their poke bowls are a must-try, especially because you can choose three side options, something you don't find at many poke counters. If available, don't miss the limu from Molokaʻi, a unique local favorite that adds incredible flavor and authenticity. Beyond the food, it's worth stopping in just to experience the vibe of Upcountry Maui. Be sure to check out the daily dad joke board and get the punchline from Barbara behind the counter. It's little touches like that that make this place so memorable. A true Makawao gem.

Absolutely love this store. The prepared meals are made with so much care and the coffee is always delicious. And they always give my doggos treats.

Ian we missed you! We met Ian in Kihei and he casually mentioned this general store and that we should stop by for lunch. HOLY COW. We got some sort of tri tip or pork sandwich and it was humongous for just $10. We got two. I found the whiskey I love which I couldn’t find anywhere else during our stay. It has just enough groceries and fun items to make you feel happy but not overwhelmed. The people were sooo friendly and the gals in the deli section were happy to chat with us. I also got a slice of guava cheesecake - only $6! I make cheesecakes but this slice hit different. I did not share it. Also the cat sleeping next to register is a superstar. Give him/her a raise for us.

Wow, late to post but was on my mind! The $30 Thanksgiving from this place was INSANE and so delicious. Easily 2lbs of food on that plate. Will go back next year!

I absolutely love General Store Makawao! I've been a fan since my early days back in 2012 when I lived at Lumeria Maui. Walking into the store today felt like coming home! The beautiful medium-haired, lynx point Siamese shop cat just sits there being gorgeous and made my visit even more special. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. Plus, when you buy a kitty sticker, it goes to support the Humane Society! It feels great to shop somewhere that truly cares for our furry friends. There are always beautiful, uplifted, enlightened humans visiting the store as well. Highly recommend visiting this gem!💎

Friendly staff and fair prices! Sad that Puff is on the farm (for real!) but glad he’s doing well. Rodeo is the only place on the island that I could find the amazing Maui Dream Bars too!

Worth the visit to meet puff the local celebrity cat alone. Store is really cute and has a ton of great trinkets and food/beverage options. Great customer service

Stop by because i saw Puff the cat in front of the store. Every one here is so nice. Large selections of goods. Love their salad jar. I love Puff so i ended up buying his stickers lol

Small show with a ton of personality. Sell spices, liquor food and stuff. Any place with a dad joke on chalkboard as you walk in is a must stop in if you are in the area I’m not a coffee person but I’m told they have really good coffee

This little store has everything you would want to snack on or eat. Cold brew nitro coffee is awesome and so is the selection of sandwiches and poke! Staff was extremely nice! Cant wait to come back!
