The Naughty Rooster Irish Pub
About
A Slice of the Emerald Isle in Lihue
When you walk into The Naughty Rooster, the first thing that hits you is the unmistakable scent of malt and toasted wood. Located in the heart of Lihue, this pub ditches the polished resort aesthetic for a grounded, high-energy atmosphere that feels like a local living room. It is the kind of place where the music is loud enough to drown out your own thoughts and the laughter from the bar top feels contagious.
The Local Pour
This isn't just another tourist stop; it’s where Kauai locals congregate for a proper pint. You won't find tiny umbrellas here. Instead, the focus is on a solid selection of stouts and ales that are poured with patience. If you catch yourself waiting a few minutes for that perfect head to settle on your Guinness, consider it a hallmark of the craft. The menu leans into hearty, no-nonsense pub grub designed to soak up a night of social drinking. Whether you are craving crispy fish and chips or a savory stew that warms you up after a rainy Lihue evening, the kitchen prioritizes comfort over flair.
What to Expect
The space is unpretentious and occasionally crowded, especially during weekend matches or live music sets. You might find the seating a bit snug, and navigating the floor can feel like a game of Tetris when the pub is at capacity, but that proximity to your neighbor is part of the charm. It attracts a mix of weary travelers and island regulars who aren't interested in white-tablecloth service. If you are looking for an honest drink and a place to shed your vacation worries, The Naughty Rooster delivers exactly what it promises: a loud, lively, and unapologetic Irish pub experience in the middle of Hawaii.

If you're looking for a bar with a casual locals feel this is your spot! Great food--I recommend the buger with French dip sauce, but other items are equally as good. Staff are super friendly and efficient, and are very personable. Great beer choices and full bar. Full sports TV's are overhead. Nice alternative to the resort bars. They make you feel like family stopping by. Love it!

I stumbled into The Naughty Rooster this Thursday expecting a typical Irish pub experience… and got so much more. From the moment I walked in, Melissa and Jen made the entire dining experience memorable. As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, it meant a lot to have a 0.0 Guinness available. It’s a small detail, but it shows they truly understand that people still want the atmosphere and camaraderie of a great pub without the alcohol. The food absolutely delivered. The crispy chicken sandwich is a must—perfectly done and clearly homemade. I’ve also had their Reuben, and it’s just as impressive. If you’re looking for true Kauaʻi aloha spirit with an Irish twist, this is your spot. Great people, great food, and even a little view to go with convenient parking. Highly recommend stopping by for a relaxed, welcoming Irish pub experience.

Great place to sit and eat, have a drink and watch the ocean. Glad we stopped! Server was super sweet! Their Reuben is house made beef - not shaved deli meat!

We’ve visited before just for drinks and always found the place friendly, which is why we returned for lunch. Unfortunately, this visit was a mixed experience. During lunchtime there appeared to be only one person working the bar and all tables, with several couples dining. She was clearly overworked, and service was very slow. We received our drinks, but there was no follow-up once the food arrived. We ordered the prime rib sandwich special, mozzarella sticks, and a salad. The salad was very good. The prime rib sandwich, however, had very little meat and a lot of bread. The bread itself was excellent, but the sandwich felt unbalanced. It also came with a heavy amount of onions, which was likely our oversight for not asking ahead of time. Overall, the biggest issue was staffing. One person simply can’t handle a full bar and multiple tables during a lunch rush. The server was doing her best, but additional help would have made a big difference.

Loved our visit to The Naughty Rooster. They have draft Guinness and, Josh, the bar man knows how to pull a great pint. My husband and I are from Ireland so we know a good pint of Guinness when we see one. Way to go, Josh and his lovely fiancé, Molly.

(5000 stars if I could!) The Naughty Rooster is hands-down my favorite bar on the entire island. It truly feels like Cheers—“where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came!” What makes this place so special is the people. Jen is incredibly sweet and kind, and Santiago is such a bubbly bartender who makes amazing drinks. MJ, Nicki, and Ariel are all fantastic servers with the best attitudes—you can tell they actually enjoy being there. The owners are also wonderful and treat everyone with warmth and respect, which really sets the tone for the whole place. And then there’s the food… absolutely delicious. I genuinely look forward to getting off work, heading down there, seeing familiar faces, ordering the spice bag, and sipping on a cosmopolitan. The Naughty Rooster isn’t just a bar—it’s a community hub where people connect, laugh, and feel at home. I love this place so much. 5000 stars all day long.

Super friendly, great food, and beach view. We loved it. It was great to spend time there during pounding rain and trying to enjoy Kauai before our red eye home.

The Naughty Rooster is the BEES KNEES!! Such a fun environment, great food, and you can tell they put a lot of love and effort into the place. Ocean views while we ate the best reuben sandwich of my life! Will be going back to try the steak and Guinness cottage pie. The bartender Molly, who is also the owner, made us feel very welcomed. Will be telling everyone about this place!

Casual atmosphere belies the level of service and the tasty food..... The salad was fresh, and the grilled Mahi on top was moist, and it was a perfect combination for lunch. My husband had the fish and chips - the ratio of fish to batter was excellent and the fish was moist. The chips had a decent crunch on the outside and soft in the center.

My new favorite bar. So glad to have an Irish pub on island. The ambiance is incredible. The owners clearly put a lot of time and effort into making the restaurant cozy and fun. Everything I've tried in the menu so far is great. They have a great drink selection and a variety of Jell-O shots for $5 (with whipped cream and sprinkles- game changer). Late night happy hour has 2 for $5 Jell-O shots (clearly I love Jell-O shots) and other cheap food and drink specials. TVs everywhere for all the games but also have other fun stuff on for people who care so deeply about sports like me. Karaoke on Saturdays, open mic nights on Fridays, good music on the speakers if nothing else is going on. Fun crowd. Owned by a badass husband wife duo who also work hard behind the bar and in the kitchen. All the staff is super friendly, especially Ariel, the best server/bartender on Kauai. I highly recommend coming here. I'm sure I'll see you there.
