Sushi Bushido

Honestly the best sushi we have ever had! The dry aged salmon, the fatty tuna are out of this world. The lemon bliss roll!!!! I will dream about it. The staff are wonderful. Service is quick and efficient, but the vibe is relaxed and very welcoming. Shout out to TJ!! Best waiter! We loved this place enough to eat there 3 out of the 4 nights we were in Lihue ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sushi Blue Wave is such a nice spot for authentic Japanese food. We went here three times over the course of our vacation in Kauai and enjoyed every single time. PJ provided excellent service and managed the line outside well, to make sure it doesn't overcrowd inside the restaurant. The food was excellent. Great sashimi, rolls, and ramen (which is lunch only). Their special dessert (matcha bread pudding) was also great — not too sweet. I would also like to thank PJ for offering a couple recommendations for things to try/places to visit for our future Japan trip.

We had a great experience at this relatively new restaurant. The staff were very kind and helpful, and it was easily the best sushi I've ever had. The menu has a large variety of options. We ordered the lemon bliss roll, the northern lights roll, the sea urchin, and the scallops. For dessert, we had the mochi ice cream bites. Everything was fantastic! I also have celiac and require gluten free, and they were able to accommodate by making a couple substitutions and putting the sauces on the side. They also provide gluten free soy sauce upon request.

Absolutely blown away. We literally just walked out of this restaurant, and I’m still in shock. I almost felt dizzy from how good the food was. We’ve been to many Michelin-starred restaurants around the world - and honestly, none of them compare to these sushi. The quality, the freshness, the balance of flavors… it was unreal. Every bite was perfection. Pure craftsmanship. No unnecessary show - just insanely good sushi done at the highest level. This was not just dinner. This was an experience. WOW. Thank you !

This place is amazing! PJ was our handsome and so engaging server. Full of suggestions and humor. He made our night. The sushi is so fresh. We started with the mixed tempura appetizer and it was delicious. We moved on to the Toro, which is the best I've had. The Northern Lights Signature roll is to die for, as is the Blue Wave signature roll. We topped our evening off with the fried ice cream and what a sweet surprise that was. Thank you for a memorable sushi experience.

PJ was very knowledgeable and his recommendations were perfect. This is honestly the best sushi I have ever had. Thanks to PJ the experience is one we will never forget. Every moment was wonderful.

TL;DR Absolutely delicious, modern yet authentic sushi in a cozy setting with excellent service. We were welcomed warmly. I'm always hesitant to try any non-traditional sushi, but everything we ordered tasted well balanced with clear thought and care in flavors and preparation. Something I'll probably never taste again unless I visit was the octopus karaage, which was unique and flavorful with fun textures. Recommended.

Sushi Blue Wave is a true dining experience. I’ve been to Michelin-star restaurants, and none of them compare to Sushi Blue Wave. The reservation system is great—if you arrive around 4:40 p.m. before they open at five, you can put your name on the list and have a good chance of getting a seat at the sushi bar. I’m sure that will change soon; this place is going to blow up. All of the employees are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to sit at the sushi bar two nights during our trip, and it was fascinating to watch. They’re true artists, every single one of them. I’d recommend: • Truffle Edamame • Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice with Jalapeño • Kubota Senju (small) • Chef’s Choice • Blue Wave Crunch Roll • Dry-Aged Wasabi Truffle Salmon • Lemon Bliss Roll But honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Their sake selection is excellent as well—just ask your server for a recommendation that pairs with the fish you’re ordering. My personal favorite was the Dry-Aged Wasabi Truffle Salmon. It’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. Thank you to the entire Sushi Blue Wave team. I can’t wait to come back.

I have spent 2 years of the 42 I have been on earth on the Island of Kauai. Pre-kids, it's safe to describe my life as seeking out scuba diving and the next best eat anywhere on earth I wanted to go. After having kids, I literally didn't go anywhere for roughly 5 years. Until, one day, the wife and I loaded all the idiots into a plane and went back to Kauai this week. Blue Wave sushi caught my attention as several of the other sushi spots we used to frequent, seemed to have gone downhill. So, the Blue Wave... Service was top notch. All my questions were answered. All my requests were immediately tended to. Thanks server Sy! Sushi. I always start with nigiri/sashimi to see what kind of sushi place I am dealing with. The Sushi Masters at Blue Wave know what the heck they are doing. From their cutlery and how they use it, to the exotic fish selections including, aged fish and fish just pulled from the water by local fishermen, finished off with healthy portions of fish cuts, I could tell I was in for a treat. It was fantastic. Rolls. Although not 40 to choose from, the ones they offer on the menu, they have mastered. I had large slabs of salmon on my Northern Lights roll. And the price was very reasonable when compare to other places dedicated to sushi on the Island of Kauai. Don't compare the price to sushi from your local Walmart. The Madai (Red Sea Bream) Nigiri was 'fire' as the kids would say. The toro was melt in yo mouff. My kids licked the salt out of the edamame bowl. Super aggressive, but they are still feral creatures. Eat at Blue Wave. The end.

We came twice on our trip to Kauai this past week It gets crowded so go early and sign up on waitlist, no reservations First visit- 5/5 Great service and all the nigiri sushi were amazing! Just a bit disappointed they don’t offer the head for the amaebi. Also one of the best miso soups on the island! Second visit- 4/5 We came a second time around the same time, 5pm for dinner. We were maybe 3rd in line. Service was still good and we ordered pretty much the same thing but added a yellowtail jalepeno sashimi and a wagyu surf and turf roll. I’d skip the roll but my mom liked it. This time they were sold out of several things (5:15pm) such as their special seared yellowtail, wagyu sushi (we only were able to get one piece), and a few other specials. This time the uni and amaebi came out in diced up pieces and noticeably less fish/rice, which was disappointing and hard to eat since the small chopped pieces would easily fall apart. The quality is great and comparable to nicer sushi places in California but sad that they changed up the amount of uni / amaebi and the presentation Overall I highly recommend Easy parking, small lot on side or street parking
