Coastal Flavors in the Heart of Lihue

Stepping into Naupaka Terrace Restaurant feels like a transition into the slow, steady rhythm of Kauai life. Located within the Courtyard by Marriott, the dining room trades formality for an airy, open-layout design that allows the Pacific breeze to filter through the space. You will hear the gentle hum of travelers and locals alike mixing over morning coffee or evening cocktails, providing a casual soundtrack to your meal.

Island-Inspired Breakfasts and Evening Winds

The culinary focus here centers on approachable Pacific Rim cuisine. The breakfast service is widely regarded as a highlight of the Lihue area, featuring hearty portions of Hawaiian-style favorites. Expect thick, fluffy macadamia nut pancakes that carry the distinct, nutty scent of toasted island kernels, often paired with fresh seasonal fruit sourced from local growers. By sunset, the atmosphere shifts as the lighting dims, creating a relaxed environment suitable for a quiet dinner after a day spent exploring the Wailua River or nearby beaches.

A Note on the Kauai Pace

While the service is friendly and inherently laid-back, the restaurant operates on what residents call 'island time.' It is the perfect spot for those who aren't in a rush and prefer to linger over a second round of drinks while watching the sky turn shades of violet over the grounds. The floor-to-ceiling glass doors often remain open, allowing for a seamless transition between the manicured garden views and the dining tables. If you find the parking lot near the entrance crowded, simply head toward the secondary hotel access points to bypass the congestion. Whether you are fueling up for a North Shore hike or looking for a convenient, atmospheric spot to end your day in central Kauai, this terrace offers a genuine taste of Lihue hospitality without the pretense of high-end resort dining.

I ordered the huli huli chicken with mixed veggies, Yukon mashed potatoes, and focaccia—it was phenomenal! The chicken was tender and flavorful, the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious, and the focaccia was the perfect touch. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully balanced. I definitely recommend dining here while on Kauaʻi!

After two weeks of driving around Kauai and trying all the different restaurants, this place really stands out. There is culinary excellence at this restaurant at reasonable prices. - They have the Best burger in all of Kauai! The $22 Wagyu Burger is the best tasting hamburger I’ve found in all of Kauai and I’ve had it multiple times, it’s delicious! It is definitely a gourmet burger - other Entree’s like fish are served with culinary excellence and presentation all at a reasonable price. The fish was delicious. - They have a very unique calamari offering that I’ve never found anywhere else. It’s a solid slab that is beautifully breaded and served sliced. It tastes fantastic

A bit pricey, but on par with everything on the islands. The staff was so kind and attentive. The atmosphere was nice. I would recommend some decor to absorb sound. A lot of hard surfaces, making every conversation carry. Nothing too bad, though. The food had some stand out moments and none of it was terrible. The calamari was pretty forgettable, but he polenta was top-tier. Would definitely come back.

It is an adventure to get there from the main parking lot. Elevator to the third floor, walk to the left to the next elevator, go to the first floor and follow the signs to the restaurant. Could be a faster route but that’s the one bellhop suggested. Food was delicious. Avocado taste was impressively loaded with fresh avocados, eggs, and sprouts. Hash was delightful. Sausage and pulled pork with a crispy finish on the hash. Expect to pay $7-$8 for a beverage. Only downfall was no view BUT there is a short walk to the ocean past the pool.

Being the main restaurant on site at our resort, this was convenient for us. The service was ok, not wonderful but not bad. We did not eat the buffet but the entrees for both dinner and breakfast were good. The local farm salad was amazing. The crab cakes were also delicious.

Whole Snapper deep fried was delicious as was the catch of the day. Good service. Dinner hours are 5-10, if you are really you will wait until precisely 5 to be seated.

We had breakfast here multiple times during our stay and were always so happy with all of our meals. The biggest thing we adored though- this Açaí bowl. We are still talking about it almost a year later (talking about it was actually what sparked me wanting to write this, very late, review lol ), absolutely PHENOMENAL. Have tried to recreate it here at home and can’t seem to get it right. If you’re here for breakfast you MUST get the açaí (so I can live vicariously through you lol)

Where to begin. The food looks pretty but that's about all I can say. Portions are very small and we waited 20 minutes for food we ate in 5 minutes. Just not much to it. We left hungry and unsatisfied. We won't eat here again. There's too many better options. Like the Italian restaurant down the road. The atmosphere was nice. Service was just OK. I had the huli huli chicken which was like 5 small strips of breast off the bone....the rest was bone. The korean "short ribs" were not your typical short ribs but thin tough fatty pieces of meat that were mostly bone. Way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food you get.

We had food at all three restaurants during our stay. The manager was so professional checking on us and watching the restaurant helping where needed! We enjoyed the live music, and our server was wonderful at Shutters. Kala at Naupaka Terrace was amazing! He knew the menu inside and out, was fast and friendly, and shared a lot of information about the fish dishes. He is an asset to the resort for sure. We felt very confident in our orders with his suggestions and knowledge. Thank you for a wonderful vacation ❤️ Mahalo

They tried too hard to accomplish something that they are not. Food was completely blunt tasteless and nothing special at all. The focaccia was just a fluffy piece of bread served with terrible Olive oil and the sweetest balsamic glaze that you have ever tasted. Neither focaccia is supposed to be like that, nor olive oil taste like that or balsamic vinegar. The shrimp ceviche was nice as an idea, but was completely tasteless. There was no salt at all in it, and no citrus flavor at all. Ahi tuna was again lacking of salt and the portion was really small. The grilled vegetables that came with it where really good. Lamp chops again lacking of this something special that will make them pop. They serve you and the Cutler is wrapped in a napkin. Nowhere to place them other than on the table itself. Although I changed from fish to meat, I had to hold on to them and they were never changed. Also, the wine glass was being refilled and not changed to a fresh one. These are just small details that if you want to have a high class restaurant you need to take care of. You can't expect to charge five-star prices with one-star service. Don't get me wrong. It was not the server's fault. That's probably management 's directions. They should know better. For breakfast again the same. The eggs looked amazing but tasted like nothing lacking of flavor. Cappuccino was one of the worst that I've ever had.
