Konohiki Seafoods
About
A Taste of Authentic Kauai Catch
Stepping into Konohiki Seafoods feels less like a formal restaurant visit and more like walking into a friend’s kitchen in the heart of Lihue. This local staple is the go-to spot for residents seeking high-quality poke that focuses on what actually matters: the freshness of the fish. You won’t find fancy plating here; instead, you get generous scoops of seasoned ahi served in a casual, grab-and-go environment that embodies the laid-back spirit of Kauai.
Poke Done the Local Way
The menu centers on daily catches, featuring variations like spicy ahi, shoyu, and furikake-dusted bowls. The texture is consistently buttery, avoiding the overly fibrous or stringy quality found in commercial grocery store options. The scent of seasoned seaweed and toasted sesame greets you immediately upon entry, signaling that the batches were likely prepped just hours prior.
Island Life Observations
It is worth noting that Konohiki Seafoods is a high-traffic destination during the lunch hour, so prepare for a quick queue as local contractors and office workers snag their midday fuel. Seating is extremely limited, so most patrons treat this as a premier takeout operation to enjoy at a nearby beach or back at the office. If you are hunting for complex fine dining, look elsewhere, but if you want to experience the poke that defines the local Lihue diet, this is where you stop. The service is efficient and direct, reflecting the no-nonsense attitude of a shop that lets the quality of the ocean-to-table ingredients speak for themselves.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Don’t miss going here when you’re in Kauai. Go multiple times

If you want to go somewhere locals enjoy, this place is great! I keep seeing locals come and order to go so I had to try it! They have a lot of great options. A lot of pre-made meals for you to take on the go. There are a lot of fried/cooked meats and shrimp to a lot of fresh raw seafood/poke to choose from. I have no complaints with this place besides the fact that everything is pre-made in the morning. Some of the fried stuff are dried out. I would definitely come back to try the other poke options!

We stopped here after landed in Lihue and had the best spicy ahi poke bowl to start off our trip! It was so yummy and the flavors were perfect together. This place gets really busy at peak times and the staff isn’t the most friendly, but they’re busy so that’s totally understandable. Like most of the local food spots, there is no seating here so plan for takeout or eat in your car like we did!

So incredible! I wish we had time to try everything. We got the hamachi poke (AMAZING), ahi limu, and surf clam poke as well as the spare ribs bowl. Everything was so delicious. I wish I could eat here every single day. We went at 10ish and it was already pretty busy.

BOMB food. Poke was 10/10. Fried chicken was so juicy and tender with an amazing, sweet batter. 1000% recommend.

So I love this place and always eat here with my mom and grandma it is one of their favorite places, ordered 2 sashimis and they forgot to give me one mind you our bill was almost 200 bucks they lady argued they didn’t charge it and did also argued they will not show the receipt. There also was flies in the Kim chee shrimp completely marinated from a piece I took from close to the bottom because we already ate most of it. Laulau also very dry and no taste. I always spend over 100 when I eat there. Never again

This place is as local as it gets. There’s often a line out front and no place to eat at the actual location, but don’t let that prevent you from experiencing the amazing food. The poke is incredible, the fried chicken and shrimp is amazing, and the real winner for me was the Amaze Ball. The line moves quick and we just took our food to enjoy on a grassy knoll not too far away.

Cool little hidden gem. Lots of fresh and delicious Poke to choose from 😋 Fried chicken was really good but I love poke 😍 Although they were super busy, staff were friendly and helpful with food choices 😊 Note: takeaway only, small space inside with a maximum of 10 people restriction (overflow to queue outside).

My favorite quick seafood shop when I fly into Kauai. Their variety of cone sushi is one of my favorites, and they have amazing selecting of poke (fish, shellfish, tofu, etc.), and fried items like calamari or oyster. Very delicious and reasonably priced. If you want lunch or delicious nutritious snacks, this is a place to come!

10/10 recommend coming here for poke and their platters! We stopped by incredibly hungry after our flight and it did not disappoint. It’s takeout only fyi. We tried the shoyu tuna, the Chinese plate, the kalua pork plate, the kimchi marinated crabs and Maya’s fiyah (not 100% sure how it was spelled) and they were all incredible. The flavors did still allowed the fresh fish to shine and it wasn’t over seasoned. The ginger fried chicken was super crunchy, not too greasy or breaded and very juicy. We will most certainly be back before we leave Kauai!
