Keoki's
About
A Taste of Old Hawaii in Lihue
Stepping into Keoki's provides an immediate shift in pace. Located in the heart of Lihue, this spot captures the laid-back spirit of Kauai, serving as a gathering place for locals and visitors who prefer a casual, authentic atmosphere over polished resort dining. The interior reflects a classic plantation-style charm, filled with the warmth of wood accents and a breeze that reminds you exactly where you are in the Pacific.
Menu Staples and Island Influence
The menu focuses on straightforward, island-inspired comfort food. You will find fresh catch-of-the-day preparations that shift based on what the local fishing boats bring into the harbor each morning. Their approach to Hawaiian regional cuisine leans heavily on traditional flavor profiles, emphasizing local produce and well-executed, no-nonsense cooking. It is the kind of place where the scent of grilled fish and charred pineapple hangs in the air, signaling a meal made with care rather than culinary pretense.
The Local Experience
Keoki's excels for those seeking an unhurried lunch or a relaxed dinner after a long day exploring the Garden Isle. The seating is comfortable but cozy, and during the peak dinner rush, the noise level picks up with the spirited chatter of groups celebrating small milestones or families catching up. A minor note for visitors: the parking area in this section of town can get tight, so planning an arrival a few minutes early is usually a smart move. Whether you are looking to cool down with a crisp drink or fill up on locally sourced ingredients, the restaurant remains a reliable anchor in the Lihue dining scene, offering a grounded, honest slice of Kauai life.

Really loved the French toast! The ladies really knew what they were doing back there! My man got a cornbeef hash moco and said it was good as well. Real easy to miss this spot but you’d be wise not to! Not much eating area and the chickens will try to eat your food, still super worth it!

I NEVER write reviews, but this one I came sprinting to let you all know their breakfast is INCREDIBLE. It’s a hole in the wall serving up dishes made with love. The homemade hash patties knocked my flip flops off, paired with the fried rice I was in heaven. Sprint to Keoki’s because it was worth it. I wish I took a picture, but the phone was not eating first on this one

Keoki has been operating here since 1978! Authentic Aloha is served here! There’s no other place I’d rather eat first after landing at Lihue airport(3minutes). 10 stars for the food, 10 stars for the aloha, and 10 stars for the ‘talk story’! Dare I say…. ‘Best hole-in-the-wall place in Hawaii !

Two potatoes, one carrot, two ok sized pieces of meat. Any pieces that “looks” like meat are tiny bits. This beef curry barely covered the bottom of the to go box. Look at how high the tiny scoop of salad is compared to the curry. They know how little they are serving because they put it in the tiniest covered bowl. If I didn’t pour it into the container so I could try get some curry on my rice :( It wasn’t even good too. Never eating there again. Third strike you’re outta here…

We visited this local restaurant last week during our vacation on the island. Don't confuse this restaurant with Keoki's Paradise restaurant from Koloa town. This little mom and pop shop in Lihue did not disappoint. We wanted to get brunch but by the time we arrived, their breakfast menu ended. However, the lady gave us a sample of the beef stew. We ended up ordering the beef stew and adobo. The portion was great and the food was amazing. I highly recommend their stew. Getting there might be tight. Also, there is no indoor sit down table. They had a little section on the side that they possibly set chairs and tables out but when we were there, there wasn't anywhere to sit so we ended up eating in the car. We saw a lot of people order and leave. Of all the nice restaurants we ate at during our vacation, this restaurant served as one of our must go places to eat and will definitely come back next time.

What a great place to grab a quick bite before (or after) boarding a flight! Breakfast sandwich was excellent (on sweet bread or French toast). Love the macaroni salad, like mom used to make. And the woman at the takeout window was so happy and pleasant. We’ll be back!

Good hefty breakfast with HUGE portions! I got the corned beef hash plate and the fried CBH was pretty delicious! Tons of rice and the eggs were cooked over easy just as I order them! Nothing gourmet, but it hit the spot!

Best breakfast on the island! Huge portions, amazing value and great customer service! Felt like we were eating at someone’s house. Truly delicious. Hotcakes were MASSIVE and so fluffy. The loco moco was packed with flavor and hit the spot! Can’t wait to come back and have it again. Cash only. Tons of parking available.

Been on this island for 3 days and this has been the best I’ve had so far. The cheese burger was a proper juicy burger with fresh veggies on it. Fries were your standard fare fries, nothing wrong with that at all, but the cheeseburger was the star of the meal. I didn’t see any places to sit and eat. This is in a very industrial area so it looks more like a “order food on your lunch break” kind of place if you work in the area. Cash only too so fyi.

CASH ONLY! My husband and I went here twice while on vacation. Tucked away behind some buildings is this gem of a breakfast place. Good portions and good price. Be aware that this is a Cash Only Business so make sure you have cash on you. Everything we tried tasted amazing! I’m sad we found this place on our last full day but will be coming back next time we visit. Only down side is there’s no place to sit and eat so you might have to settle for taking it to the beach or sitting in your car. Very hot meals though so it would last the drive. Highly recommend this place
