About
Catch the Game and the Trade Winds
Situated right in the heart of Lihue, Kalapaki Joe's has become a staple for locals and visitors looking to catch a game while enjoying a view of the bay. The open-air setup invites the salty Pacific breeze to circulate through the dining area, making it a perfect spot to cool off after a day of exploring Kauai. You will likely hear the hum of TVs tuned to various sports channels competing with the ambient roar of the surf nearby.
Island Favorites and Brews
The menu focuses on hearty comfort food that satisfies after a hike. Their signature Kalapaki Joe’s burger and island-style tacos are the go-to choices for many regulars. Because the kitchen embraces a no-frills, casual approach, you can expect generous portions that are meant for sharing. If you are a fan of local microbrews, their rotating list of taps features island-inspired flavor profiles that pair well with their seasoned fries.
Practical Local Tips
While the atmosphere is relaxed, keep in mind that the parking lot near the Lihue bayfront can get congested during peak tourist hours, so plan your arrival accordingly. The service here is laid back and matches the "island time" pace of the Garden Isle. It is an ideal venue for a casual group outing where you want to dress down in sandals and board shorts without feeling out of place. Whether you are refueling after a morning at the beach or settling in for an evening game, this spot captures the unpretentious essence of Kauai dining.

A great place to have a meal and listen to some live music. We had 3 meals at this place within our week on Kauai.

Service is always fast and friendly, I find myself coming here at least once a week. I love their draft beers, and that ahi avocado poke is bomb. If you go in for happy hour, they got sweet deals on hot wings.

The best happy hour on the island, $.25 wings! TV screens for both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is good and the staff is friendly, one of my favorite places to go on the island.

Great service, decent food in a bar setting. I like the rustic look and feel. The nachos are impressive in quantity but lack the amazing factor in flavor. They are good to be sure just short of amazing. The steak is cut-up cube steak, which is fine if there was more flavor. The presentation was poor, all of the nacho cheese was on on side and buried. But you can't miss with grilled jalapeños and onions, nice touch. The service was outstanding.

Kalapaki Joe’s is a sports bar with a wonderful vibe, great servers and even better food. The servings are HUGE, so order accordingly. There’s also a great cross breeze in the restaurant with a stunning view.

This is located inside the mall and has a large seating area inside and outside and clean bathrooms! The food was delicious! This would also be a great spot for a large party and to sit outdoors in comfy seats! We just happened on them as they were close enough to where we were coming from and where we had to meet for our helicopter tour. Both the husband and I LOVED our food, we had: Nobu Poke Nachos and the Ahi+Avocado Poke. Service was a little slow as there was only one server/hostess.

Happy hour is great! Breakfast is disgusting. Bartender was rude my "scramble" was an over cooked omelette and saltless home fries. Save your money and take it somewhere they put pride in their food and customer service.they did refund me for my meal but would rather have a good meal then money back and a sad stomach

Great food and huge portions. Service was good. The calamari was outstanding and so was the seafood Mac and cheese.

This place is fantastic! First off, the service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and helpful where we couldn't decide what we wanted. Then, when we ordered the Surfer Nachos appetizer (see the picture), she was nice enough to bring it to us before we ordered our entrees, because we had no idea how huge they were, and it drastically altered our order. Now to the food: the nachos were delicious and more than enough to go around. We also got some Jaws Fish Tacos that most of us agreed were the best fish tacos we've ever had! The pulled pork sandwich was, in my wife's words, "the best I've ever had anywhere." Finally, we went when there was some live music and it was pretty good too! All in all, I highly recommend Kalapaki Joe's and will certainly eat there again when we return.
