Daddy O's Restaurant
About
Breakfast Rituals in the Heart of Kauai
Stepping into Daddy O's in Lihue feels like walking into a friend’s kitchen. This neighborhood staple has become a go-to for locals seeking hearty, no-nonsense breakfast plates before hitting the road to explore the island’s north shore. The air is consistently filled with the comforting aroma of sizzling bacon and fresh, robust coffee that powers the morning rush.
The Local Flavor Profile
The menu leans heavily into island-style comfort food. You will find massive portions of loco moco, where the savory brown gravy blankets a perfectly cooked patty, and fluffy stacks of pancakes that disappear almost as quickly as they arrive at your table. It is the kind of place where the service is straightforward and efficient, catering to residents and visitors who prefer substance over spectacle.
What to Expect
The dining room maintains a casual, bustling energy. It gets quite lively during the weekend brunch hours, so don't be surprised if the sound of clinking silverware and chatter hits a high volume. While the interior is unpretentious, the focus remains squarely on delivering consistent, filling meals. Parking in the surrounding commercial area can occasionally get a bit tight, so arriving early is a solid strategy if you have a busy day of sightseeing planned. Whether you are grabbing a quick bite near the airport or settling in for a long, lazy morning, Daddy O's offers that authentic slice of Lihue daily life.

Daddy O’s was such a great breakfast spot on Kauai! The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to take care of us. They were especially kind and accommodating to our one-year-old, which meant so much. The coffee was a total home run, and the stuffed French toast was chef’s kiss. We’ll absolutely be back!

Tried their dinner pork tonkatsu set and for Kaua’i, I must say it was good. Traditional style Japanese tonkatsu with finely cut cabbage, grind your own sesame seeds and tonkatsu sauce, Japanese rice, and pickled cabbage, miso soup, tea, and a green tea ice cream. Their pork is Kurobuta pork, and we also had the Kauai shrimp tonkatsu too. The tonkatsu breading had a good crunch and is better than what you would find on a typical chicken katsu plate lunch. Service was full of aloha! 🤙🏽

Daddy O’s was an excellent restaurant experience. My family ate here our last day of our vacation and had such a blast getting to know the friendly and out-going owner Harry. This place has excellent breakfast and brunch options. Harry is a total gem of a human and shared a lot of really fun stories with us. Pretty sure he pays his staff better than I even make as a Social worker in Canada lol. Very impressed with this ma and pa type business. A must try if you are visiting Kauai!!!

We were greeted upon arrival and seated promptly. The service was good and the food delicious. The macadamia nut, coconut pancakes were amazing. The cream cheese stuffed and fruit topped French toast was also amazing. Coffee cups were refilled without asking. Other dishes ordered by family members were tasty and price was consistent with other local eateries.

Off gate, the service was grade A. I was welcomed and seated promptly. My waiter was friendly and helpful. Even threw in a suggestion. The coffee was great and my cup was consistently being refilled. I ordered the Kanaka. I was a wonderful dish. My only grip was that my bacon was hummm either over cooked or old. Minus that, everything was good.
