Aloha Liege Waffles & Espresso
About
A Morning Ritual in Lihue
Walking through Lihue, you will likely catch the scent of caramelized pearl sugar hitting a hot iron long before you spot the storefront. Aloha Liege Waffles & Espresso brings a specialized piece of Belgian street food culture to the heart of Kauai. Unlike standard breakfast waffles, these Liege-style creations are made from a thick, brioche-like yeast dough that results in a dense, chewy interior and a signature crunchy, golden-brown crust formed by caramelized sugar pearls.
The Espresso Connection
The coffee program here is designed to cut through that intense sweetness. Expect a robust espresso menu that leans into bold roasts, providing the necessary acidity to balance the rich butter content of the waffles. Whether you are grabbing a quick morning pick-me-up before heading to the airport or slowing down with a latte, the space favors a grab-and-go energy that defines the local Lihue pace.
What to Expect
The shop is small, and during peak morning hours, the line can spill out toward the sidewalk, a minor trade-off for fresh-off-the-iron quality. The interior is minimal, keeping the focus entirely on the griddles working in the back. It is the ideal stop for anyone who appreciates a no-fuss, high-quality indulgence. Since the waffles are designed to be eaten with your hands, they are perfectly portable for a drive toward the north shore or a beach morning. Keep in mind that seating is limited, so plan to enjoy your treats while exploring the nearby shops and landmarks of central Kauai.

Was a quick walk from the hotels. Delicious waffles and tasty coffee. They have covered tables to sit and relax. Considering the prices of food at the resorts this is a great alternative. Staff were friendly and helpful, will definitely go back!

We stopped here for breakfast and ordered the Mac Daddy, Bob, a fresh fruit bowl, and coffee. The food was good overall, and the waffles are definitely indulgent. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll probably love this place for breakfast. For us, since we’re not big on sweet flavors in the morning, it felt a bit too sweet.

We ordered the Mac Daddy Waffle, and it was an amazing experience in every bite! The service here is also quick and friendly, making the experience that much more enjoyable!

This place is decent. It’s located next to a high traffic road. The waffles are pretty good but not 5 stars. The coffee is ok at best, but nowhere near a good quality espresso.

Waffles are amazing, lots of selections to choose from. The plain one with adding just a few fruits too is also fantastic. Can’t go wrong with what ever you choose here. The coffee was good too.

Really delicious coffee and waffle! I got an iced vanilla latte and a BOB waffle (pick two/each half has a different flavor). Our two flavors were Mac Daddy and Slow Island (with lilikoi). Both were delicious- I liked the slow Island and my husband liked the Mac daddy. Speaking of...My husband insisted he didn't want any and then ate 80% of the waffle! Very tasty syrups and toppings. Made with love! Food truck setting with picnic tables and easy parking. Mahalo!

This was my family’s favorite food experience on our trip to Kauai. We came back 3 times for their seasonal Rising Sun waffle with fresh mango and lime coconut whip cream. We tried a few other spectacular waffles, but this seasonal one was unlike anything we’ve had before. You must visit this breakfast spot if you come to the island!

Everything at Aloha Liege is absolutely amazing! The Liege waffles are next-level—crispy, perfectly caramelized, and made fresh to order. The coffees and lattes are just as impressive—smooth, rich, and full of flavor. You can tell they put care into every detail. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is laid-back and full of aloha. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, a sweet treat, or a coffee break, this place is a gem. Can’t wait to come back!

This has been one of my favorite new finds on the island! Don't let the fact that it's a good truck deter you. These waffles are so extremely good! There is ample parking and shaded seating in front of the truck. The waffles themselves are chewy and crispy, golden brown and toasted to perfection. The staff is so warm and kind. We stayed in a nearby hotel and were able to walk here for breakfast. It definitely beats a hotel breakfast!! We will make this a stop on our trips to Kauai from now on.
