Wailea Kitchen
About
Fresh Flavors of the Maui Coast
Stepping into Wailea Kitchen feels like walking into an open-air extension of the island's own gardens. Located just a short drive from the sun-drenched shores of South Maui, this spot prioritizes a farm-to-table philosophy that defines the local Kihei culinary scene. The air carries the faint, sweet scent of ginger and lemongrass, mingling with the salt-air breeze that drifts in from the nearby Pacific.
A Local Take on Island Bounty
The menu is a rotating reflection of what local Maui farmers are harvesting that week. You won't find static, tired recipes here; instead, Chef’s creations highlight seasonal produce, often featuring charred vegetable medleys and fresh-caught mahimahi seasoned with house-made spice rubs. The kitchen treats the vibrant colors of Maui-grown heirloom tomatoes and root vegetables with a simplicity that lets the natural sweetness shine through.
The South Maui Experience
The atmosphere is intentionally laid back, designed for those who have spent their day trekking through the rugged landscapes of Upcountry or lounging on the golden sands of Wailea Beach. It’s the perfect spot for an unpretentious dinner where the focus remains entirely on the plate. Be prepared for a lively, acoustic-heavy environment—this isn't a place for hushed whispers. If you’re arriving during the dinner rush, keep in mind that parking in the immediate vicinity can be a bit of a puzzle, but the payoff of a crisp, locally-sourced meal is well worth the minor inconvenience of navigating the lot.
Whether you are a resident looking for a consistent weeknight haunt or a visitor seeking an authentic taste of the island's agricultural richness, Wailea Kitchen offers a grounded dining experience that feels deeply connected to the land and the surrounding Kihei community.

Love love LOVED it. Amazing views and ambiance. Our waitress was so kind and helpful. She helped us choose dishes that suited our vegan diet. There are so many options here for vegans, vegetarians with the option to add animal based protein if you wish. Everything was cooked to perfection. Properly seasoned without too much spice or salt. The chocolate dessert is to die for....a must have. I have eaten at so many restaurants and this is by far one of the best ever. We will be back!

Let me begin by sharing the passionate Mission of Wailea Kitchen: "Everything on earth survives off of another living thing but it is not good to imprison or torture animals. We vote with every dollar we spend. Therefore we choose to vote locally with hunters, fishermen and farmers." The food is so thoughtfully prepared & delicious!!!! We started with the Dakine Brussel Sprouts, $16 (omg!) & the WK Nachos, $24 (OMG!!!!). We couldn't wait for dinner... but wait we did. Over an hour for our food to arrive & it was not busy when we ordered. I ordered the WK Tacos w/ jackfruit ($22 + $6) & they were the BEST tacos I've ever had. I have to mention that this price was for 2 tacos... no sides, just 2 tacos. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the WK Enchiladas with Miso Soy Curls ($33 + $6). My daughter, being a purist, ordered the keiki vegan alfredo (a double portion, $14 x 2) that they forgot to add the cashew cream to so it was ultimately onion/garlic noodles with olive oil. Average at best. OVERALL: The staff was VERY friendly. The drink/food service was slow... had the server come back after the meals were delivered we could've possibly corrected the alfredo-less pasta. The prices were VERY high however we felt good supporting a restaurant like this. Also note that 22% gratuity is automatically added ~ which may be reason for the slower service. A few suggestions: If the menu is vegan/vegetarian by design present it should be as such. List "suggested proteins" (meats/fish etc...) opposed to featuring them. If a menu item is vegan or can easily be made vegan it should be indicated with a V. It was very confusing having only a few items listed that way & then needing to clarify with the server.

We made reservations for 5, very nice server but we waited for our dinner for an hour and a half. The food was delicious but so long in coming with so many apologies that we were ready to walk out. Not sure what happened but the server was constantly apologizing for the kitchen. Very disappointing. We will try again and hopefully all will be excellent because the food was great. We ordered onion rings, veggie’s, eggplant parmigiana, mushroom caps, portobello, tacos, all very delicious. If you struggle with managing stairs, this is not the place to go. Difficult walk from the parking lot.
