the Hideaway by Aloha prime
About
A Slice of Maui Serenity
Tucked away from the high-traffic zones of South Kihei, The Hideaway by Aloha Prime offers a refreshing departure from the typical resort-heavy dining scene. Stepping into this spot feels like finding a local secret; the air carries a light salt breeze, and the background is often filled with the easy-going hum of slack-key guitar rather than aggressive top-40 hits. It is the kind of place where shorts and slippers are the unofficial dress code, making it a perfect pit stop after a morning session at the nearby beaches.
Elevated Comforts
The kitchen leans into the strengths of Hawaiian-inspired comfort food. While the menu rotates based on what is fresh from the local docks and farms, regulars often gravitate toward their take on elevated island classics. Expect generous portions where the focus is firmly on the quality of the catch. The seating is intimate, so if you arrive during the peak dinner rush, prepare for a bit of a squeeze; it is a cozy, tight-knit environment that encourages rubbing elbows with locals and visitors alike.
Why Choose This Kihei Spot?
If you prefer a dinner experience that prioritizes flavor and genuine interaction over velvet ropes and white tablecloths, this is your destination. The service is relaxed—island time is real here—so bring a book or good company and plan to linger over a cold drink. It captures that specific South Maui charm: unpretentious, flavor-forward, and deeply connected to the laid-back rhythm of life in Kihei.

Everything was delicious. We started with the bread and garlic butter (bread steaming hot w/ homemade butter). For entrees we had the Marry Me Mahi and BBQ Hoisin chicken. Both were lights out. The mahi was the best fish we’ve had in Maui. Service super friendly as well! We look forward to coming back.

Amazing new restaurant in Wailea! Worth a visit or two! We might have over ordered but I wanted to try it all! We started with the chicken lettuce wraps and onion rings…. Delicious! Then mom had the fish special…. And I had the blackened fish sandwich. Everything was amazing! Sasha our waiter was the best! See you all again soon! 🌺 FYI: BYOB currently. 🥂
