Sugar Beach Bake Shop

Sugar Beach is just down the road from many of the hotels and great beaches in Kihei. This little local bakery has some wonderful bakery items including malasadas. If you're looking for malasadas, I feel they have some of the best to be found on Maui! Deliciously sweet and soft with a creamy filling; it's hard to stop eating them. In fact, I found myself going back there every few days to get my fix of velvety dulcitude. My advice, buy a box with your +1, find a spot on a bench and give your taste buds a delightful infusion of of one of Hawaii's infamous treats while you watch the chickens and enjoy the outside Hawaiian weather.

I was looking forward to this place so bad. It is one of the only places on the island that has malasadas and it was well rated so we went for it. Sadly it did not live up to the reviews. We waited about 10 minutes in line (not bad at all). We got the chocolate, passion fruit, and coconut filled ones plus the cinnamon sugar ones. We waited for the hot ones (cinnamon sugar). They were soaked in oil and tasted like oil. They were crunchy on the outside (not good) and doughy, almost underdone, on the inside. There was nothing but dough flavor and a touch of cinnamon sugar flavor. These do not melt in your mouth, like others mentioned. They are not airy and pillowy. We ordered four drinks (coffee and chai) they were okay. Not the best but they were drinkable. I was soooooo incredibly disappointed in the malasadas 😔. We had the best ones on the planet on the Big Island, last year and I had hopes we would find the same quality here. I guess we'll keep looking. Why I gave 3 stars was for the staff, who were very nice!

We were lucky enough to stop by on their first day of reopening after the kona low storms. We went at about 7:15 and only waited 10 minutes but I definitely can see the line getting longer as the day goes on. The malasadas and blondie were good. I enjoyed the sweet onion quiche. My fiancé go the Char-latte and said it was the best latte he got the entire trip!

Managed to get two of the last four malasadas at 11am so definitely we were late to the party but excited to try the coconut filled and cinnamon sugar ones that we could get. They were not too sweet and great with coffee. Also grabbed a mango cheesecake that was incredibly good. I bet everything here is delicious.

Very nice people. Making a pitstop here is a great way to start your morning. Get some coffee, pastry of your choice, and explore. Parking gets full quickly, but there are plenty of street parking. I would recommend trying everything, so bring your family to share.

Short line maybe 10-15 minute wait. Prompt. Pls let of help. Kind and generous with answering questions. 2 drinks, malasadas and 2 barkers items around $30. So so incredible and full of flavor. The donuts were not hot but still so incredible. You have to try the apple danish was life changing

The malasadas are cute. Coconut was my fave. Lilikoi was my friends fave. Got a spinach and kalamata olive croissant...but there were no olives. Boo. Also go it heated up but the whole inside was cold. Scones looked amazing. Wish I had gotten one of them ♡
