Peggy Sue's
About
A Slice of 1950s Americana in South Maui
Stepping into Peggy Sue's in Kihei feels like hitting the pause button on island time. This retro-themed diner brings a heavy dose of mainland nostalgia to the Maui coastline, complete with checkerboard floors, chrome accents, and red vinyl booths that invite you to slow down after a morning at the beach. It is the kind of place where the jukebox might be playing Buddy Holly, and the walls are plastered with icons of a bygone era.
Classic Comforts on the Menu
The kitchen leans hard into the classics. You will find thick, hand-spun milkshakes that serve as the perfect antidote to a humid afternoon. Their menu focuses on the staples of a roadside diner: juicy, old-fashioned burgers, crispy onion rings, and fries served in generous portions. If you are craving a straightforward meal that hits the spot without the pretense of high-end resort dining, this is your go-to landing strip in the heart of Kihei.
The Local Vibe
Expect a casual, bustling energy here. It’s an ideal spot for families or travelers looking for a quick, filling lunch before heading out to snorkel or explore the coast. Be prepared for a bit of a localized quirk—the interior can get quite energetic and loud during the lunch rush, and parking in the surrounding shopping area can occasionally require a bit of patience. However, the efficient service and the reliable comfort food make the quick stop worth the maneuver. Whether you are grabbing a malted shake to go or settling into a booth to escape the midday sun, Peggy Sue's offers a consistent experience that stays true to its diner roots.

If you wanna milkshake and lil extra you got it, this was super delicious and if you stop in during happy hour, you can get it for a lil cheaper but still super worth it. I got blue vanilla milkshake!

Everything you would expect in a hamburger diner. Great, juicy hamburgers! Hamburgers are handmade and come with different toppings. The sweet potato fries were tender and delicious. My husband had the hotdog that was a meal in its self. The service was perfect! Wished we had found this gem of a place sooner, we would have eaten there more often! Delicious food! Clean and a fun place to eat. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

I checked the online menu and noticed that they had a cup of chili for $5.99. being a chilli lover, I stopped in for a cup to go. I get there and now they are charging 9.99 so with tax came to roughly $12.00 for a cup of chilli. That's equivalent to $2.00 a bite. I had to ask for a spoon and it didn't even come with crackers. After I ate it I went back on to let them know about error on their website. Very overpriced for a small cup of chilli that was about a 5 on a scale of 1-10. She didn't offer a partial refund. On top of that the place looks really ran down and a bit dirty. I won't be back

We wanted something quick and simple. I had a pineapple milkshake which was the best milkshake I have ever had hands down. And the two young men serving is were so polite and pleasant. Food came out really quick, less than 15 min. I will be back to try another milkshake before I leave the island.

The food was amazing, expensive but large portions. Service was excellent, and we enjoyed the music and atmosphere.

Peggy Sues is the best restaurant I've ever been to. Everything was perfect, from the old fashion to the food. The burgers are big and delicious, making them hard to finish in one sitting, but that's great because you can take the leftovers home. The fries are superb and honestly, I can't think of a single flaw. My grandparents renewed their wedding vows, and the restaurant gave us a free sundae to celebrate. If I could give a better rating than 5 stars, I absolutely would.

Ordered the Good Golly Miss Molly burger on a gluten free bun. The gluten free bun had good texture and was not dry. The patty seemed a bit dry. The sandwich overall was mehhh. I’ve had better for a cheaper price elsewhere. Cute atmosphere. I had heard Steven Tyler is a regular customer at Peggy Sue’s, which is half the reason why I visited.

Food was good diner food. Burger freshly made from local beef. The peanut butter banana milkshake was amazing. Sweet potato fries were good. Very friendly server, and fast. Nostalgic diner look, but needs a little tlc.
