Papio's Place

I never proactively leave Google reviews, but this place truly deserves one! My husband and I were in Maui for a week on vacation, and came across Papio’s Place as we were searching for veggie-friendly food options around Kihei. After our first visit we were so impressed we came back three other times! The food is absolutely delicious (and not the “good enough” way you see in many plant-based restaurants - this is “I would want to eat here even if I weren’t vegetarian” delicious)! The menu changes regularly, but the one we came across was inspired by American southwest cuisine - if you end up finding this menu, we highly recommend the Mac ‘n’ Trees, the Asada Your Way (very spicy, beware), and the Street Tacos (all flavors are great, but the mushroom hongitas taco is the best). The people working at Papio’s Place are very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate to our not-so-spicy palate. As a plus, the food truck is in a space with other food options, and the atmosphere is amazing - outdoor seating, colorful decor with hanging lights, and sometimes there’s even live music. We highly recommend visiting Papio’s Place!

Food truck at South Maui Gardens. I enjoyed both the fishless taco (banana blossom) with cheez and/or guacamole (one soft taco) and the street corn with toppings - really tasty. I applaud their zero-waste policy: square metal plates, stainless steel cutlery, cloth napkins. I want to try more of the menu. [paw-pea-oh]

Delicious! These guys have clearly spent the time perfecting every component so that you're left with a delicious vegan meal. Love the service, atmosphere and zero waste commitment. We had the asada, every flavour of rolled taco and poppers. Literally cannot go wrong with any combo. If you want something more filling, the asada is your best bet. My only disappointment is that there won't be anything like this back home 🥲
