A Slice of the Mediterranean on South Kihei Road

Walking into Le Bazaar feels less like stepping into a storefront and more like uncovering a hidden corner of a coastal European village. The space is bright and airy, filled with the scent of freshly baked pita and slow-roasted spices that drift from the open kitchen. It is the kind of spot where you come to linger over a long lunch, watching the Kihei sunshine spill across the tabletops while the sound of clinking cutlery provides a rhythmic, low-key soundtrack.

The Flavors of the Coast

The menu focuses on authentic Mediterranean comfort food, with their signature lamb gyros and house-made hummus serving as the anchors of the experience. Everything is seasoned with precision—the meat is charred just enough to provide a smoky depth, while the vegetables maintain a crisp, refreshing snap. It is a favorite for locals looking for a quick, high-quality bite that feels miles away from the typical tourist fare found elsewhere in Maui.

Local Notes

While the quality of the ingredients is consistently high, be prepared for a bit of a challenge when it comes to parking; the lot can get tight during peak lunch hours. However, the short walk from your car is well worth it once you get your first bite of their flaky, honey-drenched baklava. Whether you are grabbing a meal before heading down to the nearby beaches or just need a quiet place to recharge, this corner of Kihei offers a genuine culinary detour that focuses on flavor rather than flash.

What a fantastic find in Maui! This is our fourth trip to Maui, and we can't believe we're only now discovering Le Bazaar. As far as we know, it's the only Mediterranean and Moroccan restaurant on the island and also the only halal-certified dining option available, making it a truly unique culinary experience in Maui. Located in Azeka Makai Plaza (beneath Dr. Jonathan Thomas' dental office), Le Bazaar offers an incredible atmosphere that immediately transports you to another world. We enjoyed their beautifully curated prix fixe menu, though they also offer à la carte options. Every dish was flavorful, authentic, and thoughtfully presented. What truly made the evening unforgettable was the experience itself. The ambiance was elegant and immersive, and throughout dinner there was an elaborate belly dancing performance that added so much energy and authenticity to the evening. It felt like dinner and a cultural show all in one. Whether you're looking for halal dining, Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine, or simply a memorable night out in Maui, Le Bazaar is absolutely worth a visit. We will definitely be returning on our future trips to Maui. Highly recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I can say, without question, that my birthday dinner at Le Bazaar was the best birthday dinners I have ever had. It’s like crossing a portal from Maui to Morocco when you walk through the door. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Our waitress Amber was an absolute delight. I felt as though I were a guest at her palace in Morocco. To begin the evening you are invited to select from wardrobe racks of authentic Moroccan robes and hats. We had so much fun choosing out outfits. After donning our garb, we were graciously shown to our beautiful table and Amber brought a pot to wash our hands; so elegant. First course was Harira soup - the warmth and blend of spices set the tone for the meal. Next course was B’stella, which is a sweet and savory blend of chicken, velvety eggs and almond wrapped in phyllo pastry, then sprinkled with powdered sugar. They were even thoughtful enough to write Happy Birthday in cinnamon on mine. 🥰 Brilliant touch and easily one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Then suddenly the music came on and the beautiful belly dancer, Isa Inca put on a flawless show. She entered with a cape that looked like golden lit angel wings and finished with a stunning sword dance. Then the main course arrived and was a lamb and date dish that melted in my mouth. To finish the night perfectly, we received an assortment of Moroccan pastries and a delicate mint tea (expertly poured by the other waiter, Edwin) i honestly haven’t laughed that hard and enjoyed myself like that in a while. We even got to meet one of the owners who was quite debonair. I went home and fell asleep with a huge smile on my face. For the time being, this place is a hidden gem. But soon, it will more challenging to get a table as word gets out.

Le Bazaar is truly one of a kind. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere transported us rich Moroccan decor, the option to wear traditional attire, and a belly dancer who brought the whole room to life. The food was exceptional, every dish layered with bold, carefully balanced flavors unlike anything else on Maui. The staff made us feel genuinely welcomed the entire night. If you're looking for more than just a meal. this is a full experience. Highly recommend!

In Maui’s competitive dining scene, this Moroccan restaurant stands out with ease. We were a group of 7, and we all found it to be one of the most memorable meals on the island. Service was exceptional, very attentive without being intrusive. The pre-fixe menu offered a great introduction to Moroccan cuisine. The beef tagine was the highlight: tender, richly seasoned, and deeply satisfying. The lamb and fish tagines were equally praised across the table. A standout experience and a definite must-visit while in Maui. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Overrated moroccan restaurant. The food was okay for the price we paid. It’s a fixed menu and I’m thinking perhaps we came on an off-day where the food didn’t suit our palette considering the consistent 5-star reviews this restaurant has received. The presentation of the food was great. However, the food itself was not worth the $200 price point. At one point we were served an omelette-stuffed pancake with baklava filling and sugar on top and were told this was a “palette-cleanser” in preparation of the main course…definitely wasn’t a palette cleanser and was a very off-putting combination of ingredients. I also have a complaint about the “belly-dancer”. Possibly the worst belly dancing I’ve ever seen in my life. On top of that, the belly-dancer made her rounds asking people if they wanted to take pictures with her. We politely told her “sure, maybe later” and she proceeded to tell us with attitude that she was leaving so it was now or never. Suffice to say we had zero interest in taking pictures with her especially after seeing her mediocre performance. All in all, the $200 price point felt more like we were paying for the performance and food presentation rather than the taste of the actual food itself. Coming from someone who knows middle eastern food very well, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone traveling to Maui.

The best experience in Maui! They have Moroccan clothing and hats to dress up in and take beautiful photos. The food is exquisite, full of flavor and perfectly balanced. The music complements the evening, and the belly dancing is beautiful to watch and enjoy with family or friends! It's an excellent experience!! We loved it!

This is the best food I have tasted in a long time. Each dish was carefully prepared to perfection with many different flavors that combined elegantly. The servers were extremely attentive and pleasant to have a chat with. The atmosphere was so unique and represented the Moroccan culture and were able to wear Moroccan attire as we dined. Excellent experience and even better food.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at Le Bazaar. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere sets the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening. Once seated, you’re offered the opportunity to wear traditional Moroccan attire, which is such a fun and immersive touch that truly enhances the experience. Every dish was beautifully prepared, with flavors that were perfectly balanced and thoughtfully paired. The owner and staff were exceptionally attentive, making us feel genuinely welcomed and well cared for throughout the evening. The surprise belly dancer was a delightful highlight and added to the magic of the night. With every bite, both my husband and I couldn’t help but say “wow.” Even the bathrooms were immaculate, a detail that speaks volumes about the level of care throughout the restaurant. This is a 10/10 experience and an absolute must whether you’re visiting the island or are a local. We will most definitely be back.

The Moroccan art and furniture were beautiful and you felt like you were in Northern Africa. The food was fantastic! The chef’s attention to presentation, flavor and spices was top of the line. Have never tasted so many different spices and they all tasted amazing. Our waiter Edwin gave detailed explanations of each dish and had great presence for each course. The entertainment by the very talented belly dancer was graceful and amazing. You won’t be disappointed in this restaurant and experience. Thank you for your attention to detail!
