Fresh Flavors Meet Maui’s South Shore

Perched near the heart of Kihei, KOMO brings a refined, contemporary energy to the coastal dining scene. The space feels open and airy, echoing the relaxed spirit of South Maui while elevating the typical island eatery experience with sleek, modern design elements.

The Culinary Approach

At the center of the kitchen, the team prioritizes seasonal ingredients sourced across the islands. You will notice a focus on bright, citrus-forward preparations and expertly seared proteins that emphasize freshness over heavy sauces. The menu shifts with the local harvest, but the kitchen maintains a consistent dedication to balancing texture and acidity—expect dishes that pop with local produce, whether it is a crisp, vibrant salad or a perfectly charred catch of the day.

What to Expect

The atmosphere is best suited for those looking for an elevated dinner that doesn't feel overly stiff. It is a prime spot for sunset seekers who want a clean, sophisticated backdrop to a conversation. While the interior is comfortable, the room can get quite energetic and lively during peak hours, making it less ideal for hushed business meetings and better for groups of friends or celebratory dates. Note that while the interior is polished, finding a parking spot can occasionally require a quick lap around the block, so arrive a few minutes early to secure your place before your reservation.

Why Dine Here

KOMO stands out as a departure from the traditional tiki-themed restaurants often found in the Kihei area. By focusing on a minimalist aesthetic and high-quality plating, the restaurant offers a quiet confidence. It is the kind of place where the service is attentive without hovering, allowing the quality of the food to take the lead.

Spectacular Japanese restaurant—easily one of the best I’ve ever experienced. The fish is flown in fresh from Japan twice a week, and the quality is outstanding. I highly recommend the Hamachi Kabosu; the fish practically melts in your mouth. The Fuji Salmon Trout is a chef’s special nigiri and an absolute gem. If you’re ordering rolls, don’t miss the Negi Hama Maki. Everything was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and packed with flavor. Absolutely spectacular.

★★★★★ Excellent authentic omakase Japanese dining experience. The focus here is on the quality and freshness of the fish, allowing the natural flavors to shine rather than relying on heavy sauces or seasoning. What stood out most was the variety of unique fish species flown from Japan that you don’t often find elsewhere, each thoughtfully prepared to highlight its natural character and texture. The chefs were friendly and engaging, and the service was warm throughout the meal. My only minor critique is that the lobby location doesn’t quite do justice to the quality of the food. A more dedicated restaurant space would make the experience even better. Overall, a fantastic authentic omakase dining experiences in Maui.

As a hospitality veteran, I was in awe of this majestic Four Seasons Restaurant. The atmosphere and service were spectacular. The food was quite good too- Excellent quality, presentation and good preparation. I think that the menu could be a smidge more varied (maybe I’m just conditioned to large menus at sushi places though). The tasting menus should probably be printed or spieled upon request (I forgot to ask our server about the tasting menus, which is my bad). The mocktail I had was a lavender, shiso and soda. It was a bit too sour for me. I thought it needed some sweetness for balance 🤷🏼‍♂️. Overall I give this place high marks. I really can’t stress enough how great the staff is. They really made our first night here at the four seasons special. Thank you all for that
