Coastal Dining with a Front-Row Seat

Perched along the South Maui shoreline, Koast captures the easygoing spirit of Kihei. This spot is built for those who want to transition from a day on the beach to an evening cocktail without changing out of their sandals. The open-air layout allows the salty trade winds to drift through, mixing with the faint scent of kiawe-grilled proteins.

The Menu Approach

Expect a menu rooted in local ingredients, where fresh catch of the day takes center stage. The kitchen favors simplicity—think charred island fish seasoned with citrus and local herbs that highlight the quality of the haul. It is the kind of place where you order a round of poke or local-style appetizers and watch the sun dip below the horizon. The bar program leans heavily on tropical profiles, favoring fresh lilikoi and pineapple infusions over overly sweet mixers.

A Few Notes for Your Visit

While the panoramic view is the main draw, be prepared for a lively, high-energy environment. As the evening progresses, the volume level tends to climb alongside the live music, making it better for a fun group outing than a quiet, intimate dinner. Parking in this part of Kihei can get tight during peak sunset hours, so arriving a few minutes early is a smart move to avoid circling the lot. Whether you are a local winding down after work or a visitor seeking that quintessential Maui sunset photo, the atmosphere here is consistently vibrant and unmistakably coastal.

We came across this place through a gift card and it immediately went to the top of our list of favorite restaurants. Check out the happy hour. Compared to a lot of places I feel like the prices are very reasonable. The food is exceptional and just look at the way it's plated. I wish that the menu had a better description of the food. We would have never ordered dirty fries based on the description but the waitress recommended them. I'll just let the pictures do the talking. This is dirty fries, an ahi tar tar, chicken wings, and peel and eat shrimp. The $40-$50 is based on 4 happy hour appetizers, three happy hour mixed drinks and 2 happy hour big swells. I highly recommend you try this spot 🤙

On our first night in Maui, we were searching for a fine-dining hidden gem and stumbled upon this restaurant through Google Maps and what a wonderful find it turned out to be. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a beautifully curated ambience that perfectly captured the relaxed yet elegant island vibe. We ordered the Jidori Chicken and the wagyu pasta, and both dishes exceeded our expectations. The chicken was incredibly tender and packed with deep, well-developed flavor, easily some of the best chicken I’ve had in Hawaii. The wagyu pasta was equally impressive, with a rich, savory depth balanced by a natural sweetness from the tomatoes that tied everything together seamlessly. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, the meal was extremely satisfying, with generous portions that felt more than worth the price. If you’re looking for at least one fun, memorable place to check off as a win on your Maui trip, this is absolutely the one. It’s a true hidden gem, and I’m so glad we came across it during our visit.

Absolutely an amazing dining experience, truly loved every moment from beginning to end. The ambience and attention to detail throughout the restaurant are stunning. We started with cocktails that set the tone perfectly, followed by the unforgettable tako/octopus toasts, such bold, delicious flavors. The nights special were beef ribs, a fantastic surprise — tender, rich, and impossible to stop eating. The ahi/snapper ceviche was one of the best tartare-style dishes I’ve ever had; those fried crackers were dangerously addictive! The mafaldine pasta with the mushrooms was perfectly cooked and well seasoned! The Westholme wagyu New York strip steak had incredible flavor from the grill — perfectly seared, juicy, and full of character. And to finish, the matcha tiramisu with white chocolate was the perfect ending — light, creative, and beautifully balanced. A truly memorable meal from start to finish.
