A Slice of the Himalayas in South Maui

Tucked away in the heart of Kihei, Kamana Maui brings the bold, aromatic traditions of Nepal and Northern India to the shores of South Maui. If you are craving a break from the island’s typical seafood and poke scene, this spot offers a grounded, flavorful shift. The air inside is thick with the scent of toasted cumin, cardamom, and the charred, doughy perfume of fresh garlic naan emerging from the tandoor oven.

The Himalayan Table

The menu is a genuine exploration of spice and comfort. The Chicken Tikka Masala is a standout, featuring a velvety, ginger-forward tomato gravy that clings perfectly to tender pieces of meat. For those wanting a true taste of the mountains, the Momos—Nepalese-style dumplings filled with spiced vegetables or meat—are a mandatory order. They arrive steaming and served alongside a vibrant, tangy chutney that packs a sharp, spicy punch.

Why Locals Keep Coming Back

This is not a white-tablecloth affair; it is a relaxed, neighborhood hub perfect for a casual lunch after a morning at Kamaole Beach Park. The space is unpretentious and straightforward, though be prepared for a bit of a scramble if you are visiting during peak dinner hours, as parking in this stretch of Kihei can get tight. Whether you are looking to refuel with a hearty, warming lamb curry or simply need a quick takeout fix while staying in a nearby vacation rental, the kitchen delivers consistent, scratch-made quality that prioritizes deep flavor over flash. It’s an essential stop for anyone on the island seeking a spice-forward culinary detour.

I never post reviews and this was the last dinner my wife and I were sharing on our honeymoon. This food was the worst I had on the entire island. Unfortunately exchanging a POG due to an acid reflux flare up turned into a scene. The woman cooking the food in the back made me feel badly and gave me a run down on food allergy protection. Then she went on to talk trash while I was sitting right there on top of yelling at me in front of everyone in the area. I just wanted to exchange my drink. The food, again, was amazing. Just lacking in the aloha that I experienced everywhere else over a very simple fix. The shrimp taco had 2 pieces of shrimp on it…the food was lukewarm at best and there weren’t any other customers. There’s no excuse as to why the food came out the way it did. I won’t recommend this place to anyone. I would go anywhere else.

Good, fresh but not really mind blowing flavor. It’s simply still deserves a 5 star. Order the fish tacos, huge.

The best food hands down that he had on the island. I wish we found the spot much sooner. Portion of the food was very generous. We had the coconut shrimp and the fried calamari as appetizer and my husband had the fried mahi-mahi and that had the grilled mahi-mahi. We finished our plates off. We did grab the food and finish our appetizers the last leave because the seating on the picnic tables were limited. We were lucky to find parking on the street for free.

Love this place! We had the coconut shrimp and crispy mahi-mahi, and both were absolutely excellent. My only regret is we only went here on our last day — had we been here earlier, we would have come back over and over during our weeklong stay in Kihei. The seafood are perfectly cooked, extremely flavourful, not to mention the prices are relatively cheaper compared to typical food truck fare in Maui. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely the best place to eat on the island. We stayed a week and came back here about 5 times it was that good. The ahi tuna is to die for and the calamari, coconut shrimp, and grilled scallops are equally as good. They were consistent with around 15-20 min for food which we were able to quickly go across the street and grab a mai tai while waiting. Such a good place and nice people, could not recommend them enough!

I ordered deep-fried sweet potatoes for fried tahi tacos and coconut shrimp around 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 13. I just took it out and came to the hotel. But I couldn't find it and the menu was completely different. Because of this, I can't go back and it's a very unpleasant experience. Why on earth did I make a mistake on a menu I never ordered? Having to valet-park and drive for about 20 minutes to pick it up again is a struggle. Someone's mistake left an unpleasant memory of my trip to Hawaii.

Such a great plate of food! My husband and I got the coconut shrimp and the jumbo shrimp plates. 10/10. So flavourful and filling. The mango salad dressing is to die for!

Really really good mahi mahi plate. The mahi was seasoned perfectly and super moist. The rice was fluffy and flavourful. The lillikoi dressing on the salad, are you serious? And the Okinawa potato salad! All for $17? Deliciousness!

Fresh seafood w/ great flavours! The crispy mahi mahi was 10/10! Enjoyed the sides as well (mango salad & sweet potato)! Some of the best food we had in Maui!

Food was great for the price we paid. We went here twice while we were here. There was a good amount of parking (and it was free!) and tables to eat at. The second time we went they were pretty slammed but still got our order out to us in about 20 min. The coconut shrimp is big and fried perfectly. The scallop plate I thought was a great value for ~$18 you get 5 decent sized scallops on top a bed of yellow rice. The purple sweet potato salad that came with it was great as well!
