Kihei’s Ultimate Laid-Back Hangout

When you find yourself wandering the South Maui coast and craving a no-frills, salt-of-the-earth experience, Haui’s Life’s A Beach delivers exactly what the name promises. This local landmark sits right in the heart of Kihei, serving as a reliable refuge for those who prefer their cocktails cold and their sunsets unobstructed. The space carries that unmistakable island-dive vibe: open-air, unpretentious, and perpetually humming with the sound of local banter and classic jukebox tracks.

Sip with a View of the Pacific

The interior doesn't try to be something it isn't—it’s an honest beach bar where you can track the tide while clutching a frosty drink. You will notice a brisk, bustling energy here, especially as the golden hour hits and locals finish their day by the water. It is the kind of spot where you can show up in boardshorts or a sundress without a second thought. Just be prepared for the occasional loud burst of laughter or the lively competitive spirit when the pool tables get occupied; the atmosphere is refreshingly raw and authentic.

Why Locals Keep Coming Back

What sets this place apart from the polished resorts nearby is its consistency. It acts as a community anchor where you can grab a quick bite and a beer without the pomp and circumstance of tourist-heavy dining rooms. Whether you are looking for a mid-day escape from the heat or a casual nightcap to end your Maui evening, Haui’s offers that elusive, comfortable charm that is becoming harder to find along the South Maui shoreline. If you happen to visit during happy hour, snag a seat near the railing early, as the bar tends to fill up quickly with residents who know exactly where the best front-row seats for the ocean views are hidden.

A nice place to have a reasonable price drink and relax. My friend a I arrived a little after 8pm to discover the grill closed at 8. The drinks were good and people were singing Karaoke and having fun. Several TV's were playing sports. We just had the one drink and returned to the place we were staying as we had to be up early. There is a good chance we'll return.

Went to Maui recently and ended up at a local bar called Haui’s Life’s a Beach. Me and my crew had a killer time! They had karaoke and we got a chance to thoroughly embarrass ourselves. The host was super rad. She made sure we all had a chance to sing and we had such a great time! The staff was great! We for sure felt the aloha. The bartenders were slammed and did such a good job making sure everyone was taken care of. They were super fun and attentive. The only fault of one of them was that she was a Celtics fan. 😆 We had so much fun we went back multiples times. I would highly recommend going there for a great time!

Dive bar where the location, atmosphere and staff make it the perfect spot to chill for an evening!! Lots of locals, extremely relaxed, and friendly. Taco specials hit the spot!! Karaoke was just getting started and looked like it would be a fun night!!

If you are looking for the best time to have while you’re in Kihei, you need to go to this bar. Whether you singing karaoke or not, I guarantee you you’re gonna have a good time. All of the staff is friendly and welcoming and always have a smile on their face. The one person that stood out to me was the Karaoke Jockey, Sweet T. He is extremely interactive with all the customers that are interested in singing karaoke. He does a great job of giving you the best opportunity to get up on stage to have a great time singing. Without a doubt, he amplified the experience for me at this bar. If I’m ever back in the area, I will definitely be back here.

I don’t often review and NEVER review bars. They works for tips so of course they’re good to you. Especially in touristy areas. This case is so special because we weren’t treated like tourists. Even during our first visit (we visited three nights). ALYSSA was the catalyst of our wonderful experience. She was there our first and third evening and treated us as locals. She conversed with my wife and I as though we were old friends and I promise you this; I have no friends in Boston. The rest of the staff was solid as well. Great neighborhood bar vibes and hospitality. Security was also amazing. Other bars in high tourism areas often mistreat and bully visitors. The gentleman at the door was a model of customer service. I’m certain he was ready to protect the business, its licenses, staff and patrons alike however, he didn’t once flex his “power.” If I were to give any criticism it would be for the male karaoke host to NOT sing ‘Runaway Train’ by Soul Asylum. It’s a mood killing, depressing song. Especially for those of an age who remember the music video. Great all around bar. Feel free to hit the others for a drink but you’ll come back. They always come back!!

This is the worst bar I have ever had the displeasure of going to, specifically because of this evil man. He is an absolute crook, trying to control the pool table. He insisted on using the chalkboard when no one was playing the table for awhile. His name was the only one on the chalkboard and he had no one to play, so I think he was just waiting there for someone to walk up and try to use it. Then he was like "oh you gotta play me." Then when a list started to form, he erased multiple people's names from the list and then wrote his name above theirs, as well as his stupid girlfriends. He got away with it because people weren't paying close attentiom. My friend never got to play, however over the course of ONE GAME, he erased her name TWICE and we had to argue with him over it TWICE. This guy is public enemy number one. It took great restraint not to whack that shiny pool ball head of his, however i managed to keep it together so as not to upset my friends and family. The bar staff needs to get this guy in line. He is abusing the space like it's his personal man cave and giving the bar an evil aura that it otherwise might not have.

We stopped in at the recommendation of one of our local tour guides. The drinks and food were delicious. The guacamole was extremely fresh and everything was made to order. They also have outdoor seating which was nice!

They seem to have karaoke every night. I went just for that. It was well done and people were engaged. It seemed like there were a lot of regulars that knew each other. Of course, there were tourists too. I didn't try the food so I have no idea what it is like.

Great spot for a quick bite! Brandon was quick and attentive. The rest of the staff were also checking on us. The food and drinks were good and very reasonable for Maui. Would be here more often if it was closer to where we are staying.

Good vibes and good food at a reasonable price! Came here for a late lunch on a Wednesday. We were surprised by the quality of the food given the low price. Ordered the chimichanga with no add ons and pork tacos. Mai tai carafe was a good touch as well! Bartender was super friendly. Looks like they have karaoke most nights. We were told that there is live music on Fridays.
