Gilligans Bar & Grill
About
A View of the Greens from Maui’s South Shore
Perched right on the edge of the Maui Nui Golf Club, Gilligans Bar & Grill serves as a go-to spot for locals and visitors looking to pair a cold drink with the sweeping vistas of South Maui. The atmosphere is refreshingly unpretentious, defined by open-air seating that captures the steady trade winds rolling off the Kihei coastline. You will hear the distant pop of golf balls and the casual chatter of clubhouse regulars, creating a laid-back environment perfect for unwinding after a morning round or a beach day.
Island-Style Comforts
The menu leans heavily into familiar Pacific favorites. The signature local-style fish tacos and hearty burgers are crowd-pleasers, often served with a side of crispy fries that arrive hot to your table. If you are catching the sunset from the lanai, the transition from bright daylight to the warm, dusky glow over the West Maui Mountains is a visual highlight. While the pace here can feel relaxed to a fault during peak lunch rushes, it is exactly that slow-moving island speed that makes it an authentic representation of Kihei dining.
What to Expect
This is the kind of place where you come for the utility of a casual meal without the formality of oceanfront fine dining. It functions as a classic clubhouse hub, so do not be surprised to find a mix of golfers in cleats and tourists seeking a quiet corner away from the heavy traffic of the main tourist corridors. Grab a seat in the shade, order a local brew, and watch the shadows stretch across the manicured fairways.

We went to the Laua. We are Vegan friendly options on the buffet so we were not left. The show is fabulous one learns alot about culture. Staff is awesome. My blessing to the staff. Shaka blesses you to serve others, protect what is good, and live with joy and laughter.

We attended our first luau here and had an absolutely wonderful time from start to finish. The entire evening was beautifully organized and created such a welcoming and festive atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, the staff made everyone feel comfortable and excited for the experience ahead. The food was delicious with plenty of variety, and the drinks were excellent as well. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and it was fun getting to try different flavors while enjoying the evening’s entertainment. The setting itself added so much to the experience and really made the night feel special. What truly stood out, though, was the entertainment. The music, dancing, and storytelling were all exceptional. We especially appreciated how the performances were paired with historical and cultural narration, which made the evening feel much more meaningful than just a dinner show. Learning about the traditions and history behind the dances and music added a deeper level of appreciation for the entire performance. The performers were incredibly talented and brought so much energy and passion to the stage. You could tell everyone involved genuinely cared about sharing the culture and making sure guests had an unforgettable experience. Overall, it was a beautiful and memorable evening that became one of the highlights of our trip. We left with full stomachs, great memories, and a much greater appreciation for the culture and history shared throughout the night. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area! 😍🌺🌸🌴🏝️🍍

Definitely recommend this Luau over any resort owned one. It’s run by locals and they teach the history of Polynesia while serving food, drinks with entertainment. Thank you guys, we had a great time :)

Our family went for our first luau at Gilligan's which was down the street from our vacation rental and apparently the most affordable in Maui. It exceeded our expectations. Super well organized, you check in, they give you a color coded ticket and wait to be called in. Once you're seated, you wait a few minutes to order drinks from the waitress (ours was great), then get in line for the buffet. There was salad, hummus (? didn't seem Hawaiian to me - edit, oh duh, it's for vegans), poi, purple sweet potato, salmon poke, pork, chicken, mahi mahi, plus cakes and cookies for dessert. Everything was good to delicious - I especially liked the sweet potato and salmon. The poi was thin and served in small cups; I had no problem enjoying it (tasted like yogurt to me). A few items ran out but were quickly replenished. I was able to go back for seconds. Meanwhile the superb hostess, dancers, and musicians kept us entertained; it was a lot more than we expected. The setting was on a golf course and gorgeous. As long as you're not expecting a top of the line luau with a whole roasted pig, you should be very happy with Gilligan's. I want to add, we got general admission seats near the back but had no problem seeing the performers who were about 25 feet away (see pictures), though it's possible there are a few bad seats in the house from the few complaining reviews. If you want a front row experience get the premium seats (they also give you nicer lei's).

This place was a shot in the dark for me. I've never been to a Luau, and chose this one due to its reasonable price! This event did not disappoint. The buffet food was very very good. The unlimited drink selection was perfect, although my drinks were a little sweeter than I prefer, but they have beer and wine selections also. This Luau is on a beautiful property and only has so many seats which makes it very quaint. The amount of time you're there is a just right. There is someone there taking pictures of your family or friends and are available for purchase at the end along with other items also.

Been here to watch a Luau, I didn’t expected good food or a very touristy show. But I was all wrong! Both was really good! The all you can eat traditional food has something for everyone and was a good quality. The show was very enjoyable. The service was ok, the female bartender before the show was exceptional sweet and made really good drinks.

Went for the Luau and was not disappointed. I loved everything on my plate and ate way too much! The pork and fish were both very good. Tender and juicy. The humus and veggies was also very tasty. We really enjoyed the show as well. The dancing and the music we're beautiful and the fire twirling was quite impressive.

Was here for the Luau, and it was good, not great. Was looking foward to a feast and island dancers performing traditional dances. The food was very good. I got in line twice and had plenty to eat. The desert was delicious. The musicians were very professional. The Somoan fire knife dancer took over the stage after the rest of the dancers and put on an above and beyond performance that I think was the highlight of the show. Aside from the fire dancer, some of the other dancers put on a mid level quality performance. Overall, my wife an I enjoyed the show, but it did not make it to a level that we have experienced in the past.

This was a fun luau! The food was delicious. The service was very good. Our server made sure to keep the drinks coming. The dancers, hostess, drummer and guitarists were very entertaining. When we come back to Maui, this will be a place we would definitely come back to.
