Dina's Sandwitch
About
A Maui Staple for Local-Style Lunch
When you find yourself cruising through Kihei, Dina's Sandwitch stands as a go-to spot for those craving a no-nonsense meal. This isn't your typical high-end resort eatery; it is a straightforward counter-service operation that prioritizes hearty portions over white tablecloths. You’ll hear the sizzle of the flat top grill the moment you walk in, a sound that promises a meal made to order.
What to Expect on the Menu
Dina’s has built a reputation among South Maui locals for their hefty sandwiches and breakfast plates. The menu leans heavily into comfort food, featuring classic deli meats stacked high on locally sourced bread. If you are looking for a morning pick-me-up, their breakfast burritos are legendary in the neighborhood for their ability to fuel a long day of surfing or hiking. The flavors are unpretentious and satisfying—think melted cheese, crisp vegetables, and savory proteins that hit the spot after a morning in the Pacific sun.
The Practical Side of Kihei Dining
The atmosphere is casual and brisk. It’s the kind of place where you order, grab a cold drink, and wait for your name to be called while browsing the local surf posters on the wall. A quick tip for those visiting: parking in this part of town can get competitive during the lunch rush, so you might need to circle the block or walk a short distance from nearby beach access points. It’s a minor hurdle, but one that is well worth it for a grab-and-go meal that feels authentically Kihei.

We were staying at Sugar Beach Resort and ate here since it’s right in the community, and we absolutely loved it! Excellent service and delicious sandwiches, and the environment of the restaraunt was really laid back and inviting. Our server, Gretchen, was so kind and cool. She also gave us a homemade sweet treat on our way out. We will definitely be back and absolutely recommend!

Such a cool place! We split the reuben and the roast beef sandwiches which were both awesome. This was our last meal before leaving Maui on our honeymoon and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the whole trip!

Nice place to stop for lunch. The dollar bill collections on the walls and ceilings were certainly giving this place some character. The turkey hoagie was really filling. Thank you!

Convenient location to sugar beach resort. It is a local small bar with dollar bills all over the wall. It has a nice easy menu and to go food ! There is a reason it is still open all these years! Worth a stop if you are in south Kihei.

This is a super cool funky Maui TREASURE! The atmosphere is totally chill. You will meet locals and tourists in this unique and fun pub/restaurant. Bring a dollar bill or two to personalize and hang on the wall with the tens of thousands of others that have visited over the last ~40+ years. The menu is simple and very good. Sandwiches are fresh, delicious, and big enough for the hearty appetite. There is a full bar here too that can serve local beers and crafty cocktails to enhance your meal. Dina's also offers some great hotdog recipes and everything on the menu can be ordered for either dine in or take-away. Located on the shore of Sugar Beach it is a convenient stop to grab a lunch to go or dine in for some cheerful service. Open daily from 11am to 10pm which also makes it a great place to grab an evening cocktail with friends after the beach or day of adventures. Plenty of allowed parking available at Sugar Beach Resort. Highly recommended if you are looking for a low key relaxing and fun place. 👍

This place was so fun! The sandwiches are phenomenal! We had the pleasure of being served by Gretchen and she was probably one of the nicest and sweetest people I’ve ever met! We also got to talk with Jan a little and she was also very nice! Don’t look at the other reviews of this place that are bad, it was amazing!

Quirky is right. Service was great, the owners were off for the weekend and our server has been with them for 16yrs. This is a dark hole in the wall that you can barely find from the street. We had a greeting committee of two regulars at the bar (it’s 5 o’clock somewhere). Customers deface/decorate $1 bills and they wallpaper every flat surface of this place with them. Chachki artwork then is strewn about the walls. Sandwiches were good as was the pasta salad. New England clam chowder was chocked full of clams.

From the moment I stepped into Dina’s Sandwich Restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat. The cozy ambiance, combined with the welcoming smiles of the staff, set the stage for an exceptional dining experience. The menu, though concise, offered a delightful variety of sandwiches, each promising a unique blend of flavors. I opted for their signature sandwich, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The bread, freshly baked and perfectly toasted, cradled an explosion of flavors - tender, well-seasoned meat, crisp vegetables, and a secret sauce that was simply divine. What truly sets Dina's apart is their attention to detail. Each ingredient tasted fresh and was evidently chosen for quality. The balance of textures and flavors in each bite was a testament to their culinary expertise. But the food wasn't the only highlight. The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our meal was enjoyable and comfortable. Their recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our dining experience.
