A Taste of Local Kihei Soul

If you are cruising through Kihei and craving a genuine plate lunch that hits the spot without the frills, Da Nani Pirates is your go-to island pitstop. This spot captures the unpretentious essence of South Maui dining, serving up generous portions that feel like a home-cooked meal prepared by a friend who really knows their way around a grill.

Island Comforts on a Plate

The menu leans heavily into local favorites. You will find their signature garlic shrimp and savory kalua pork served with that essential scoop of macaroni salad. The scent of caramelized onions and charred protein greets you the moment you pull up near Piikea Avenue. It is the kind of food designed for refueling after a morning of snorkeling at Kamaole Beach or trekking down to the surf breaks.

The Local Edge

Expect a laid-back environment where the service is straightforward and efficient. While the parking lot can get a bit snug during the peak lunch hour rush, the quick turnaround makes it worth the maneuver. The interior keeps things simple, letting the kitchen focus entirely on the balance of sweet, salty, and savory profiles that define Hawaiian plate lunch culture. It is an ideal spot for those who prefer their dining experiences casual, heavy on flavor, and deeply rooted in the island's culinary traditions.

We absolutely loved the fish tacos here! It’s rare to find a spot that can deliver seafood this delicious and flaky while still being incredibly fast, but Da Nani Pirates nailed both. The fish was cooked to perfection and the service was impressively quick. If you’re in South Maui and want a high-quality meal without the long wait, this is the treasure you’re looking for.

Aloha! Da Nani Pirates Food Truck is worth a visit! We ordered the Ahi Tacos, the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips Platter, & the onion rings. The tacos had a lot of tuna, lime, greens, sprinkled with cojita cheese. The tacos were flavorful and tasty! The fish & chips had a nice flavor too, the right amount of crispy. The food was freshly cooked to order, and hot upon receiving it. We’ll definitely come back! The food truck area had a big, nice covered outdoor seating, so we could be in the shade. There were hand washing stations available too. Good tunes, not too loud. Great food truck vibe going on! 🏴‍☠️☠️

We had Shrimp Po Boy, which made my husband's tummy very happy. Ginger pineapple teriyaki shrimp was also very good with huge shrimps. Lots of flavors complimenting nicely. Glad we stopped by for a quick bite to eat.
