About
Hidden Flavors of Kihei
Tucked away from the typical tourist foot traffic in the heart of Kihei, A&E Oriental Foodmart is a genuine community staple for those seeking authentic Filipino and Asian staples. It functions as part grocery store, part secret kitchen, providing a quick fix for locals grabbing lunch on the go.
The Grab-and-Go Experience
Walking into the space, you are immediately met with the savory aroma of soy sauce, garlic, and slow-cooked proteins. The shelves are packed with hard-to-find dry goods, but the real draw is the hot food counter. Expect rotating selections like hearty pork adobo, pancit, and lumpiang shanghai. It is an unpretentious setup that caters to Maui residents who value flavor over fancy presentation.
What to Expect
This is not a sit-down dining destination; it is a spot for a quick, high-impact meal. You might find the space a bit tight when the lunch rush hits, as the narrow aisles reflect its origins as a functional neighborhood grocery store. It is perfect for a budget-friendly lunch after a morning at the beach or if you are hunting for specific ingredients for a home-cooked Southeast Asian meal. The fridge cases are consistently stocked with cold drinks and grab-and-go treats that make it a essential stop in South Maui for anyone craving a taste of home-cooked comfort food without the restaurant markup.

I had their lunch plate for the first time today. So, so, so good. And what a deal! This may be a daily thing now. 🤩 …

My Dad was displaced after losing our Family home in Lahaina. He missed alot of good filipino foods he use to discover in Lahaina. The adobo, tinuno, and pinacbet brought light to his heart He gives them a 5 star, and for service as well. Very clean store, friendly service and very delicious hot food. Salamat Po for making my Papa happy again.

Cute and small, I come from NW Ohio (And if you know that area, there is a huge lack of Asian stores there), and this place had a good diversity of Asian foods. There were canned goods, ramen, ice cream, and even ready-to-eat Filipino food- which were BOMB! These pictures do not do the food justice! Visit Annie and Eduardo Abut's store and support local business! Thank you for making my family's 1st Hawaiian vacation feel like home?
