Overview & Vibe
Perched majestically within the Grand Hyatt Kauai, Seaview Terrace offers one of the most breathtaking dining atmospheres on the island. True to its name, the restaurant provides an expansive, open-air terrace where the gentle trade winds meet the rhythmic crashing of the Pacific waves. As dusk falls, the venue transforms into a romantic sanctuary illuminated by flickering tiki torches, complemented by the melodic sounds of live island entertainers playing nightly from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM. It is the quintessential Kauai experience—lounge seating, panoramic ocean views, and a sophisticated, laid-back vibe that captures the essence of a tropical getaway.
Menu Highlights & Must-Try Dishes
While the atmosphere is the primary draw, the culinary team at Seaview Terrace focuses on elevated island-inspired comfort and local favorites. Guests often praise the following signature items:
- Island-Style Craft Cocktails: The mixology program is a highlight here. Whether you crave a classic Mai Tai or a seasonal tropical infusion, the bartenders are experts at balancing sweet, tart, and spirit-forward profiles.
- Fresh Catch of the Day: Whenever available, the market-fresh fish selection is a must. Prepared with local seasonings, it is consistently noted for its quality and alignment with Kauai’s sustainable fishing practices.
- Keiki Favorites: For families, the dedicated keiki menu is a lifesaver, offering simple, crowd-pleasing options that allow parents to enjoy their cocktails and sunset views without stress.
- Artisan Pastries and Kona Coffee: During the morning hours, Seaview Terrace functions as a high-end hub for local pastries and premium Hawaiian-grown coffee, perfect for kickstarting a day of exploration.
Insider Dining & Tips
Because Seaview Terrace is a highly coveted spot within the resort, securing a reservation is essential, especially if you plan to visit during the prime sunset hour. Pro-tip: While the lounge chair groupings offer a chic aesthetic, they are often difficult for full-course dining due to the smaller table size. If you are planning a substantial meal, specifically request a standard dining table when booking. Walk-ins are accepted, but availability during peak season is limited, so we recommend booking your spot as soon as you solidify your Kauai itinerary.
Location & Parking
Seaview Terrace is located at 1571 Poipu Rd, Koloa, HI. For guests staying at the Grand Hyatt, the resort is easily accessible via the main lobby corridors. If you are driving from outside the resort, valet parking is available on-site, which is the most convenient option given the limited street parking in the immediate Poipu area. The restaurant’s proximity to Poipu Beach makes it the perfect final stop after a day of snorkeling or coastal hiking.

Stunning view, yummy cocktails
Stunning views! Great cocktails. We spent a lovely week at the Grand Hyatt Resort and only managed to visit the Seaview Terrace for dinner once, but wish we’d made more use of this venue during our stay. It is incredibly picturesque and cocktails are sublime, but having dinner in any of the lounge chair groupings is a little difficult. The tables are small so if you are there for dining, make sure to reserve a table.

Nice views…not so great food
Pluses: Gorgeous view, sea breezes, nice drinks. Server was nice.
Negatives: food was barely edible, bland…until I found a hair in my Caesar salad, then it made my stomach churn. Very expensive for what we got.

Bland food that lacked creativity. Don’t have any type of special diet.
Terribly disappointed in this restaurant. At the grand Hyatt, there are no plant based options on the in room dining menu. They suggest you go to the restaurant itself to order, as the restaurants have no phone. Things started out well, when they got me the manager, Brian. He indicated he would talk to the chef and see what they could come up with.
What they came up with completely lacked in creativity and taste.
I asked if they could offer two entrées and an appetizer. Brian came back and indicated they could do a stir fry with some tofu, and an appetizer of rice. I indicated that the entree would be great but I would really like the tofu cooked well done as I don’t like mushy tofu. I then asked what about the second entrée? He indicated he didn’t realize I wanted two different entrées. I inquired again about the appetizer. He said the appetizer was rice. I indicated that the rice goes with the stir fry and is not an appetizer. After I pointed out that they had a tofu sandwich and asked if they could make it vegan Brian said he would talk to the chef. He came back the second time and indicated they could do the sandwich, but it would be dry and without any sauce. I asked, the chef can’t come up with any anything? He asked, what do you want? I said how about pasta? No we don’t have pasta that is plant based. I asked, OK well what do you have,I don’t know what you have? Brian said he was doing his best to accommodate my unique diet. I asked, it’s unique to have a vegan in the grand Hyatt? He said well that’s not unique but it’s unique this evening.
What they eventually got me were two garden salads. I could never get from Brian if they had a vegan dressing so I got plain oil and balsamic vinegar for dressing. Perhaps they have another dressing I could’ve had, but I’ll never know because it wasn’t offered to me. The stir fry was of course made with tofu that was barely cooked and mushy. The sauce was essentially soy sauce, no thought or effort whatsoever. The tofu sandwich was also mushy tofu, flash fried for a minute, and completely unseasoned. The “chef” added tomatoes and lettuce, with a minimal amount of balsamic vinegar on basic wheat bread to complete the blandwich.
My 23 year-old who has no training in cooking could make a much better meal than this. If these are chefs, they have no creativity or ability and they should be ashamed. The grand Hyatt should also up their game and be able to serve its guests that are trying to eat healthy by going plant based. It’s 2026, not that unique anymore.
