Uncle Woody's BBQ Corn
About
A North Shore Roadside Staple
If you are driving along the Kamehameha Highway through Kahuku, the scent of charred husks and sweet, caramelized corn is hard to miss. Uncle Woody's BBQ Corn has become a rite of passage for travelers making the trek from Haleiwa toward the windward side. This isn't a sit-down dining experience; it’s a rugged, open-air stand that captures the essence of Hawaii’s North Shore food truck culture.
The Art of the Char
The process here is simple but perfected over years of roadside service. Ears of corn are slow-roasted over an open grill until the kernels are tender, sweet, and carry that distinct smokiness that only wood-fired cooking provides. Once it hits the right level of char, it’s slathered in butter and a secret blend of spices that keep locals and surfers coming back. It’s messy, buttery, and best eaten while leaning against the side of your rental car or walking through the dusty, sun-drenched parking area.
Why Make the Stop?
This spot is ideal for anyone who appreciates unpretentious, high-quality snacks during a long day of beach hopping. While the wait can occasionally stretch during peak afternoon hours as tour buses pass through, the service is fast and the product is consistently hot. It is a genuine piece of Kahuku history, offering a salty, sweet respite before you continue your drive to the nearby shrimp trucks or the world-famous surfing breaks. Expect to get butter on your fingers and a bit of sand on your shoes; it is all part of the authentic rural Oahu charm.

Its corn on a stick, i mean... its delicious. If I'm being brutally honest though, I liked the one by Dole Plantation more.

Unfortunately Woody passed away. There's a different corn stand here now. Not as good.

Is there anything better for dessert than a delicious corn? This is so good, you should definitely try them out, they have three different preparation options where you can chose from, my favorite was the butter, sea salt and black pepper and the guy who is selling them is super nice and the corn it’s just $5 dollars each, super cheap.

Is there anything more delicious than BBQ corn on the cob? Buttered, seasoned, delicious corn. Got enough for 8 and everyone chowed. Yummm.....

The corn was delicious. We tried #1 Island (butter, sea salt, and garlic salt) and #2 Baja (lots of spices and parmesan cheese). Both were great but my family liked the Baja corn the best!

Corn is delicious!! Perfect for a quick bite! Corn is made fast and fresh. There's never really a lineup but the roof is really small, so you'll probably wait in the sun if there's a few people. I recommend the Baja style corn! It's so flavorful!
