About
A Taste of North Shore Home Cooking
When you pull off the Kamehameha Highway and wander into the heart of Kahuku, the air changes. It starts smelling like sweet smoke, sticky shoyu, and the kind of slow-cooked meat that signals a proper island lunch. Kaleikaumaka's Kitchen isn't trying to be a polished resort eatery; it is a straightforward, no-nonsense shack that captures the essence of rural Oahu dining.
What’s Cooking in Kahuku
The kitchen leans heavily into traditional plate lunch culture. You will find hefty portions of garlic shrimp—a staple of this specific stretch of the North Shore—alongside kalua pork that actually tastes like it spent hours in an imu. The plate lunches here are served with the classic twin scoops of rice and a side of mac salad that strikes that rare, perfect balance of creamy and tangy. It is the kind of food that makes you want to find a shaded picnic bench, kick off your slippers, and just listen to the wind moving through the nearby eucalyptus trees.
The North Shore Rhythm
The atmosphere is strictly casual. Expect the low hum of passing trucks and the occasional rooster crowing nearby. Service is quick, efficient, and typically comes with a "howzit" from the staff. It is an ideal spot for surfers coming in from a session at nearby breaks or locals looking to grab a quick, hearty meal between errands. Be warned: the parking area can get a bit tight when the lunch rush hits, and there isn't much in the way of indoor seating, so plan to take your meal to go and head toward the coast to eat with a view of the Pacific.

We went earlier in the day and purchased a double cheeseburger and some fresh exotic tropical fruit and some delicious cheesecake banana nut bread. Well everything was sooo delicious we decided to venture back there a few hours later to buy extra banana nut cheesecake bread loaves a double cheeseburger and more exotic fruit. We also tried their homemade banana ice cream the second time around. It was deeelicious. So I give this place a 10 ⭐️ review

Best macadamia banana bread ever…but remember to store them in the fridge bc mine went mouldy in room temp. I know that is good bc it means it’s not ultraprocessed but my heart is still broken:(

Really nice family! The fruit was delicious. We grabbed some banana bread as well and got the fried chicken plate lunch with seasoned fries. 100% worth the trip for the food alone!
