Kalapawai Cafe & Deli Waimanalo
About
A Windward Tradition
Stepping into Kalapawai Cafe & Deli in Waimanalo feels like discovering the heart of Windward Oahu. Located just a short drive from the turquoise waters of Waimanalo Beach, this local favorite serves as a communal hub for surfers, families, and beach-goers looking for something better than standard fare.
The Culinary Focus
The menu highlights local ingredients through a lens of island-inspired comfort food. While the deli offerings are perfect for packing a cooler for a day on the sand, the cafe side shines with signature dishes like their furikake-crusted fish and fresh catch specials. You can smell the rich, aromatic scent of locally roasted coffee the moment you step through the door, a daily staple for those commuting through the Koolau Mountains.
The Waimanalo Experience
The interior strikes a balance between laid-back island energy and a polished neighborhood bistro. Wooden accents and natural light create an open, airy environment that reflects the beauty of the surrounding coastline. It is a fantastic spot if you enjoy a relaxed pace of life, though be prepared for the lunchtime rush when the line can stretch toward the door as locals grab their midday fuel.
Parking can get tight during peak weekend hours, reflecting its popularity among those traveling the Kalanianaʻole Highway. Whether you are craving a hearty breakfast before a morning hike or a refined dinner after a day in the sun, this spot captures the genuine spirit of Waimanalo living.

I stop by this café almost every day for my coffee, and it’s always a pleasure. They have delicious vegan bakery items, which is a great bonus. You can also grab dinner to go, and I really recommend the loco moco — it was absolutely delicious. The staff is always kind and welcoming, which makes the place even better. A great spot all around.

Friendly service. Wide variety of items from coffee, alcohol, and of course many delicious eats Our family of five enjoyed pizza, cheeseburgers, and fish tacos I I think the french fries were my favorite salty and delicious. Watch out for the birds hovering over nearby. Overall our experience was great and the price was the four wall. They accepted cash and credit
