About
The Local Secret for Island-Fresh Poke
In the heart of Wailuku’s industrial sector, Tamura's Market is the gold standard for those who know that the best sushi-grade fish doesn't always come from a white-tablecloth establishment. This is where Central Maui residents stop for a quick, flavor-packed lunch or to grab supplies for a beach day at nearby Kanaha.
A Masterclass in Ahi
The smell of shoyu and roasted sesame oil hits you the moment you round the corner toward the deli counter. Known island-wide for their poke selection, you can expect an expansive glass display case filled with fresh ahi, tako, and salmon preparations that rotate daily. Whether you prefer the classic Hawaiian style with limu and kukui nut or a spicy mayo-laden creation, the fish texture is consistently buttery and firm. Pro tip: Arrive before the lunch rush, as the line frequently spills into the aisles, and parking in the Imi Kala lot can be a competitive sport during the midday peak.
More Than Just a Deli
Beyond the seafood counter, the store functions as a surprisingly sophisticated liquor and specialty grocer. You’ll find a curated selection of craft beers and premium wines that rivals boutique bottle shops, making it the perfect one-stop shop for a spontaneous sunset pau hana. The atmosphere is functional and energetic—don't expect quiet ambiance here; you're coming for the quality of the product and the authentic local workflow. It is arguably the most reliable spot in the county for a high-end picnic lunch without the resort-town price tag.

Good place to get your basic groceries and Specialty Asian items. Great selection of wine spirits and cigars. But they are grossly on demand and understaffed so there may be a wait if you need to access the area that this place liquor and tobacco. That's my only deal with this place. If you want some assistance with purchasing liquor and or cigars you will probably need to wait anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes before someone frees up to help you.

The service was amazing. I haven’t been there for a long time. And their food and produce is amazing. They had a lot of bananas and good desserts. Very well organized and nice. A cashier named Shae helped me. One of the sweetest cashiers and she asked how I was doing too. She grabbed what I needed and talked story a little. We love getting dog treats from there. They have better ones than any other place, especially with duck. Left this on yelp too.

Great local market, alternative to the bigger off-island chain stores. Good liquor selection, as they do also own a liquor store. Good fresh poke, and weekly bargains on meats and veggies.
