Julia's Banana Bread

I loved my stop at Julia’s Best Banana Bread! The banana bread was incredibly soft and moist, with the perfect texture. I also really appreciated that it wasn’t overly sweet. A simple and delicious treat after a day exploring Maui.

We loved it! We were driving along the coast and saw the standalone shop with the cooler inside. I was so impressed with this honor system for paying. The bread was amazing - moist, not too sweet, the caramelized top was chef kiss.

This is always one of our stops everytime we come to Maui!!!! The best banana bread ever and the drinks are to die for! Definitely worth the drive.

We were there last week and the stand was completely empty at 11am. We waited around for anyone to show up, since there are cameras recording, but no one did. We were there last year, in Dec 24, and there was plenty of bread around 2pm. We left and found this other stand, were a lady told us that Julia has had some health issues, and is no longer making bread and when she does its a hit and miss. It seems like her daughter might take over, but so far the stand has been empty, sadly. Great tasting bread and I sure will miss it. The website is also down. I hope she can come back soon from her health issues.

Auntie Julia or relatives don’t hang out in the stand anymore, the banana bread is still amazing and payment is by Venmo. Like everything, size of the bread loafs have gotten smaller (shrinkflation) since we last visited in 2024. If you’re not used to ultra narrow one lane roads with zero guard rails, go there from the east.

Bought a banana bread 2 days ago. Tasty. I am struggling to complete transaction. The Venmo is not allowing me to pay to this account.

The bread being sold there is from a bakery in town, Four Sisters Bakery. There is a sticker with their info. I stopped and bought some yesterday and when we got home we noticed it had mold on it. We were not about to drive an hour back up that windy road so I called Four Sisters and they did not care at all. They said that the stand buys and sells it and they are not responsible for anything. $22 for two tiny loaves of bread down the drain. I would recommend buying from an actual bakery or person selling fresh made not this spot. It was made famous by a guide book and then they just let it go down and continue getting business from that.

Prices are chosen at random for visitors. I was charged $21 a loaf (on Dec 12, 2023), which I don’t mind paying if the banana bread is incredible. It’s not. You’ll feel like you should since you braved the road to get there. The bread is not bad. But you’ll find plenty of great banana bread stands all over Maui.

Love the banana bread. We have stopped for 10 years now. Yes they are pricy but it's family made and a treat. We love it cold or hot with butter. But honestly any way it is great. It is soft, extra moist and sticky so don't expect some dry type bread. 🍞 …

Seriously the best banana bread I’ve ever had! So fresh and the prefect amount of balance between flavour and texture. It truly made the rest of our drive to the north much much better.
