Pacific Fish Market Wailuku
About
Island-Fresh Seafood in the Heart of Wailuku
Pacific Fish Market stands as a cornerstone of the Wailuku food scene, offering a no-frills approach to the ocean's best bounty. This is where locals head when they want genuine, straight-from-the-dock flavors without the tourist-trap price tag. The space is functional and unpretentious, defined by the distinct, clean scent of fresh catch and the steady hum of industrial scales and busy kitchen staff prepping the day’s haul.
The Catch of the Day
Specializing in locally sourced ahi, marlin, and opah, the menu changes based on what the boats bring into the harbor each morning. You won't find white-tablecloth service here; instead, you get heavy portions of poke, golden-fried fish baskets, and sashimi-grade filets that melt the second they hit your tongue. Their seasoned fish plates, served alongside classic Hawaiian-style sides, are designed for those who prioritize ingredient quality over elaborate plating.
A Local Staple
If you are exploring central Maui and craving an authentic meal, this spot provides a perfect refueling stop before heading up toward the Iao Valley. It’s an ideal environment for solo diners or families looking for a quick, high-quality lunch. Be prepared for a bit of a scramble for a parking spot during the lunch rush—it is a busy hub for tradespeople and office workers alike. The noise level can rise during peak hours, creating a high-energy environment that feels quintessentially Maui. Whether you are grabbing a quick poke bowl to-go or sitting down for a platter of garlic-buttered catch, Pacific Fish Market delivers a sensory experience rooted firmly in the traditions of the Pacific.

I ordered the saute fish tacos. They were excellent. We go there ever since we discovered it. The fish is fresh and so are the produce. My brother-in-law got the Captain's plate and sister got the fish katsu plate special. Everybody was highly satisfied both with the portions and taste. Highly recommend this place.

One liner: Great fresh fish with awesome service that is perfect for home sashimi or togo poki. Ordered online for pick up and they were very responsive via their texting customer service. The best customer service that they even provided ice pack and soft cooler to take it home safely to eat later. They got me sold on freshness and best service.

I have a restaurant which I filet a significant amount of whole Wild Gulf Red Snapper myself, along with another wild specie now and then. And since I don't buy fish other than wholesale it was a challenge to be able to evaluate retail vs. wholesale fairly. However, given the market dynamics of location, Pandemic and inflationary impacts on business (we're feeling it as well!) would enable me to understand that it's a fair price. Regarding the quality of the fish, whole Onaga, it was more than awesome, and a joy to handle such a gem. After I had filleted the beauty, I had hoped to include an after picture, but I'm used to a gas range, and my struggle to master my brother's electric didn't allow me to feel proud enough to take a pic, but the flavor and final product was fantastic. If the quality of our fish is the norm, and after visiting with the owner, by happenstance, I wouldn't consider any other sources for fresh fish.
