M Sushi
About
A Slice of Tokyo in the Heart of Wailuku
Stepping into M Sushi, you immediately trade the humid trade winds of Maui for the quiet, disciplined precision of a traditional Japanese sushi bar. Located conveniently for those exploring the historic storefronts of Central Maui, this spot ditches the flashy tourist-trap aesthetics for a clean, minimalist focus on the fish itself.
The Art of the Omakase Experience
Chef-driven and meticulously prepared, the menu highlights a commitment to freshness that defines the Wailuku dining scene. Patrons come here for the signature nigiri, where the rice temperature is calibrated to perfectly contrast the cool, buttery texture of sashimi-grade cuts. You will hear the rhythmic scrape of a knife against a wooden cutting board and the faint hum of local chatter, providing a grounded, authentic soundtrack to your meal.
What to Expect
The space is compact, which means the atmosphere stays intimate—sometimes even quiet enough to hear the chef explaining the origin of a specific catch. It is an ideal refuge for solo diners or couples who prefer conversation over clamor. While the seating is limited and the parking in this part of town requires a bit of patience, the reward is a level of quality that feels like a hidden discovery. Whether you are craving a precise chirashi bowl or a chef’s selection that spans the best of the day’s arrival, the focus remains entirely on the balance of soy, vinegar, and ocean-fresh ingredients.

What a terrible way to start a trip. It was my first night in Maui, and this experience left me absolutely livid. We arrived around 6:30 pm and got seated quickly, but everything went downhill from there. The restroom is a disaster zone, it had a broken urinal, cracked walls, and lighting so dim you can’t see inside the stall. To top it off, we waited over 50 minutes just for three rolls to arrive. The food tasted like 2-star quality. Honestly, worse than McDonald's. I paid $80 for a meal that was inedible and a wait that was inexcusable. Do not waste your vacation time here.

M Sushi is one of our favorite places to eat when craving sushi. Always fresh and made when ordered. This Mom and Son team get the food out quickly, whether dining in or takeout. We have ordered very large takeout orders in the past and they are always packaged well to make the trip home. Some of out favorites include the Sashimi (all types), Marilyn Monroll, Superman Burrito, 911 Roll and the Oystet Shooters. I also love love the Uni (wana or sea urchin) and the Kampachi or Carpaccio is always delicious. Looking to have some Wagyu beef? Try it with Uni on top. Rainbow Toll, Tuna Roll and Seared Ahi Garlic Roll are also good. Good service always and my family always enjoys our food here.
