Sunny Side
About
A Wahiawa Morning Tradition
When you pull up to Sunny Side in the heart of Wahiawa, you quickly realize this is where Central Oahu wakes up. The air outside smells like damp mountain mist mixed with the unmistakable promise of sizzling bacon and fresh-brewed coffee. It is a quintessential local spot that feels like walking into a neighbor’s kitchen, provided your neighbor happens to be an expert in hearty breakfast plates.
The Flavor of Central Oahu
The kitchen here specializes in the kind of no-nonsense, stick-to-your-ribs comfort food that fuels long days in the islands. Their menu is anchored by classic Hawaiian breakfast staples—expect generous scoops of rice, perfectly grilled Portuguese sausage, and eggs cooked exactly as you requested. It is simple, effective, and hits the spot after a morning commute through the gulch.
While the interiors lean toward a functional, utilitarian aesthetic, the true charm lies in the communal energy. You will hear the rhythmic clatter of metal spatulas hitting the flat top grill and the low hum of locals catching up on town news. It is loud, busy, and unpretentious.
Tips for First-Timers
Be aware that the parking situation around the main strip in Wahiawa can be a bit of a puzzle during peak weekend hours. You might have to circle the block or walk a short distance, but the wait for a plate of steaming hot loco moco is worth the stroll. If you are looking for a place with white tablecloths and hushed whispers, this isn't it. However, if you want an authentic, salt-of-the-earth meal in a town that thrives on blue-collar hospitality, Sunny Side delivers exactly what you need to start your morning.

Just ordered 4 pies for 90.00 + 10.00 tip. Quite pricey. Apple pie was not the best. Thanks for you reply Sunnyside team. I'm not a baker and I don't eat your pies so I wouldn't know how to improve your apple pies. I was providing feedback from my workplace. The chocolate haupia pies and blueberry pie went quickly but the apple was hardly touched.

Great local food with wonderful customer service. My relative specifically requested chocolate cream pie from Sunnyside instead of cake for his birthday. The 2 pies needed to be pre-cut and taken to the restaurant. I asked for tips on cutting the cream pie slices without a mess. The cashier asked their pie cutter who graciously cut the pies into slices for me. Not one messy slice and the pies were delicious! Going the extra mile meant a lot to me on my hectic day. I will continue to a life-long patron of your business. Mahalo.

Small joint. Very fair prices!!! Not much parking in the lot but plenty of street parking. Service is pretty quick and it seemed most of the guests preferred to go orders. The inside could fit 8-10 small parties but there were a couple of tables outside if you wanted to dine in the fresh air. I’m 100% sure that when there’s a game going, you won’t be able to get seating but I went on a random Saturday*** looking for bfast and lunch plates so it was empty except the to-go window. You can order ahead and pickup or order at the outside window. I just loved the convenience and how quickly I received my order. The food was fresh and hot and the burger was delicious. There seemed to be no salt on my fries so if you want, make sure to request it! To go plates is a paper plate covered in foil so bear that in mind if you’re getting a to go plate and traveling far. All in all, 9/10 as far as what I expected.
