Merlina's Kitchen
About
A Taste of Home in Central Oahu
When you find yourself cruising through Wahiawa, Merlina's Kitchen stands out as a reliable anchor for those craving authentic Filipino comfort food. This no-frills local spot captures the essence of home-style cooking, where the focus is entirely on hearty portions and bold, familiar flavors that define the local culinary landscape of this historic plantation town.
The Filipino Culinary Experience
Stepping inside, the aroma of garlic, vinegar, and slow-simmered proteins immediately welcomes you. The menu is a rotating showcase of classic staples. Their pork adobo is a standout, featuring meat that pulls apart with the slightest touch of a fork, bathed in a savory, tangy sauce that demands a generous serving of steamed white rice. You will also frequently find golden-brown lumpiang shanghai—crispy on the outside, savory on the inside—and pancit prepared with the right amount of snap.
The Local Vibe
This is a destination for the hungry worker or the resident looking for an honest lunch. The dining area is modest and functional, often buzzing with the chatter of regulars and the clatter of plates. It is the kind of place where you order at the counter, find a seat, and wait for your name to be called. Keep in mind that seating can fill up quickly during the peak lunch hour, and parking in the immediate vicinity requires a bit of patience, but the quick service makes the minor hassle worthwhile.
Merlina's Kitchen does not try to be trendy. Instead, it provides a consistent, reliable meal that honors traditional Filipino recipes. It serves as a reminder that the best food in Wahiawa is often found in the simplest settings, served by people who take pride in their craft.

This place is a hidden gem! Don't be fooled by its outward appearance! The Lechon is some of the best I've ever had! Very moist yet still crispy! If youre going to visit Dole you should definitely hit this spot!!

The only dish I liked was the Dinuguan, I've had better though. Both their Shanghai and Vegetable Lumpias had no filling. Maybe whoever was making the Lumpias that day didn't want to, lol. The Lechon was all fat, but crispy. When I went, there were two homeless guys out front. Just walk by them, they won't bother you. I think the owner gives them breakfast. The lady that took my order was nice and helpful. If you want a quick fix on some Filipino food, go here.

The food here is really good! Everything is already made so all you have to do is tell them if you want rice or noodles and what meat you want.
