Kemoo Bar & Grill
About
A Slice of History Overlooking Lake Wilson
Perched above the tranquil waters of Lake Wilson in Wahiawa, Kemoo Bar & Grill serves as a nostalgic bridge to the plantation era of Central Oahu. This isn't your typical polished tourist trap; it carries the rugged, storied charm of a location that has hosted generations of soldiers and local residents since 1941. Walking inside, you are greeted by the hum of classic rock and the unmistakable scent of char-grilled beef, a reminder that this spot was once the social hub for those stationed at nearby Schofield Barracks.
Island Comfort and Cold Pints
The menu leans heavily into local comfort favorites, with their signature Kalua pork and hearty burgers stealing the spotlight. It is the kind of place where you come for the laid-back atmosphere rather than white-tablecloth service. The open-air patio is the highlight, offering expansive views of the reservoir that remain one of the most underrated vistas in Wahiawa. Whether you are craving a cold local beer after a long drive up Kamehameha Highway or a filling lunch, the kitchen delivers unpretentious, straightforward plates that hit the spot.
What to Expect
Be prepared for a slower pace of service that matches the breezy, relaxed surroundings. It is a casual hangout, perfect for those who prefer dusty hiking boots to dress shoes. While the parking lot can get tight during peak weekend events, the live music often filling the space makes the squeeze worthwhile. If you find yourself exploring the North Shore or heading inland toward the Dole Plantation, swinging by this lakeside landmark offers an authentic look at the heart of Wahiawa life.

Mahalo 🫶🏼 First stop for 21st Birthday celebration & Sophia started our day off right with great drinks & awesome food! Highly recommend the Gummy Bear 🤙🏼. You’ll see a few friends at the bar, too, with some cherries 🍒

Great local pub. Food was really good. Atmosphere was casual! The owner was working the bar- he was great. Feels good to contribute to small business. .

This is one of the most surprising hidden gems on the island with a lake view. You would NOT expect this from the street view. It’s a vintage type building but a classic “don’t judge a book by its cover” experience! You need to go downstairs to the “Lanai” to experience this special spot. April was amazing and treated me so kindly…even gave me a hug and thanked me for stopping by. Made me feel special! The outdoor bar is covered, but there are areas to enjoy the sun…and a covered area with pool table. I’m rating the food as a 5, especially because I watched the chef come down into the restaurant to check on everyone with great concern that all was well and overheard her passion for the quality of the food. I had chicken wings and they were divine. I will definitely return on future visits. It’s just so unexpected.
