Islander Drive Inn
About
A Taste of Old-School Wahiawa
If you find yourself cruising through Central Oahu, Islander Drive Inn stands as a no-frills institution for those craving authentic, local-style comfort food. This isn't a place for white tablecloths; it is where the community gathers for hearty portions and classic island flavors that define the Wahiawa food scene.
Menu Staples and Local Favorites
The kitchen specializes in classic plate lunch culture. Their signature menu items lean heavily into local favorites, with the loco moco being a standout—think a generous, savory patty smothered in rich gravy over a bed of white rice, topped with a perfectly fried egg. You will also find various teriyaki preparations and mixed plates that cater to the local appetite. The scent of sweet shoyu and grilled meats wafts through the air the moment you step up to the service window.
The Experience
Expect a functional, utilitarian setting. It is the kind of spot where you grab your styrofoam container and head out to find a nearby park bench or keep driving toward the North Shore. Be prepared for a bit of a challenge finding street parking during the lunch rush, as this remains a popular quick-stop for residents and workers in the area. It is casual, fast, and serves as an honest slice of everyday life in the heart of Wahiawa.

We’ve been taking out from Islander Drive Inn for many years. Its not a fancy place, just a simple, hometown spot, but i gave them 5 stars for 5 reasons. #1 Consistency - What i ate many years ago tastes the same every time we went including today. Im not left scratching my head figuring they changed cooks again. If they did, I didn’t notice. What makes me so sure? I eat the SAME THING every time. #2 Accuracy- They have never messed up my order. Nothing different, nothing missing, I get what I ordered. Utensils too. #3 Hot Food- I paid higher prices at places 5 minutes away from my house that left me feeling cold. Literally. Not here though. #3 Communication- They answer the phone quickly, I understand what they are saying and they understand me. Pleasant. #4 Convenience- Fast Service. Good location. Good parking. I always need medication picked up at Longs so picking up a meal at the same time makes it easy. #5 Local Business- Always support local. My personal favorite is always the Honey Garlic Chicken plate with all white rice. Nice,Sweet Honey sauce with perfect amount of garlic, not overpowering and Crispy juicy Chicken. Very flavorful. Good portions. My husband enjoys the homemade hamburger steak with onions and requested gravy all over everything. Fries are crinkle cut and perfect Good selection of other different plate lunches as well with pictures. If you haven’t been, we recommend this humble spot in Wahiawa. 7/14/2025 Food was awesome today. Fries were perfect. Whoever was working in the back cooking during 5-6:00 shift make sure you keep them. Great job 👍 updated: 04/16/2026 Food still good and fries still fresh and hot.

Huge variety of local style choices. Has everything, Korean style food, Chinese style, Hawaiian food. Quality on par with places like L&L Drive Inn or LocoMoco. Not sure if it's a requirement for Drive Inns to be grimy and unkept inside, but this place is no exception. Got burger and fries, neither disappointed. I'd go back if in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip. Good enough for Wahiawa quick bite, better than going to McDonald's.
