Overview & Vibe
Nori Bar Waikiki is shaking up the local culinary scene by redefining the traditional handroll experience. Nestled on Kūhiō Avenue, this modern sushi sanctuary prioritizes the holy trinity of a perfect handroll: ultra-fresh seafood sourced from the pristine waters of Hawaii and Tokyo, perfectly seasoned Koshihikari rice, and a crunch-worthy, artisanal nori. The atmosphere is sleek, contemporary, and inviting, making it an ideal spot for everything from a quick, high-quality solo bite to an intimate dinner with friends. While it honors Japanese culinary heritage, it leans into a modern, accessible vibe that welcomes everyone—whether you are a sushi purist or a newcomer to the craft.
Menu Highlights & Must-Try Dishes
- Wagyu Beef Handroll: A standout for those looking for something beyond the ocean catch. The tender, buttery wagyu is prepared to perfection, offering a rich flavor profile that highlights the quality of the ingredients.
- Premium Salmon & Ikura Roll: This dish is frequently praised for its delicate balance of textures, featuring fresh, vibrant salmon paired with the satisfying pop of ikura (salmon roe).
- Spicy Tuna Handroll: A masterclass in simplicity, this signature roll demonstrates why Nori Bar is a local favorite. The heat is perfectly tempered by the fluffy, vinegared rice and the crispiness of the seaweed.
- Signature Yuzu-Infused Cocktail: To complement your meal, don't miss the refreshing drink menu, which features bright, citrus-forward options designed to cleanse the palate between rolls.
Insider Dining & Tips
Because Nori Bar is a fresh addition to the Waikiki landscape, popularity is surging. Seating at the bar is highly recommended; it offers an engaging view of the kitchen staff at work, which is half the fun. As of now, the restaurant is settling into its groove, so if you are visiting during peak evening hours, expect a lively crowd. We recommend arriving early or checking their reservation status online a few days ahead of time. Don't be afraid to ask your server for recommendations—the staff is passionate about explaining the difference between their specific style of handrolls and traditional cone-shaped versions.
Location & Parking
Located at 2255 Kūhiō Ave., Nori Bar is perfectly positioned for those strolling through the heart of Waikiki. While street parking can be a challenge in this busy corridor, there are several public parking structures nearby, including those at major hotel developments and shopping centers like the International Market Place. If you are staying at a nearby resort, a short walk is your best bet to avoid the hassle of finding a spot.

A new place with fresh food and lots of promise
Nori Bar Waikiki just opened like 10 days before we tried it out. The inside is very nice and modernly designed. The menu is a little confusing as what they call hand rolls is not what I had thought a hand roll was. These hand rolls are small versions of a roll wrapped in the seaweed versus the cone type shaped I have had before. They also list "premium" rolls which I thought meant larger traditional rolls but it did not. It just meant the ingredients are a little more premium. Being new, the staff did feel like they were still in training and there were some missteps but nothing atrocious. I think this place has a lot of promise as everything tasted great and we enjoyed our time there.

A great place to have Japanese dinner. You will not be disappointed!
Food, service, and atmosphere are all five star. My family was very pleased with every dish we ordered. The raw seafood was so fresh and the beef wagu was quite tasty. I highly recommend this place and for sure my family will be back again.
