Overview & Vibe
Tucked away on Kuhio Avenue in the heart of Waikiki, Maguro Spot is the ultimate destination for poke lovers seeking an authentic, no-frills experience. While Waikiki is filled with high-end resorts and expensive dining, this counter-service gem stands out for its commitment to quality fresh fish and incredible value. The vibe is casual and localized, catering to beachgoers and locals alike. With limited outdoor seating, most guests grab their bowls to-go, heading straight to the nearby sand to enjoy a world-class poke meal with an ocean view.
Menu Highlights & Must-Try Dishes
The beauty of Maguro Spot lies in its build-your-own poke concept, allowing you to curate the perfect flavor profile. Here are a few standouts that keep regulars coming back:
- Spicy Ahi Poke: A crowd favorite, this dish features buttery-soft tuna tossed in a balanced, piquant sauce that provides just enough heat without overpowering the delicate flavor of the fish.
- Fresh Shoyu Ahi: For purists, this is the gold standard. The deep, savory notes of the soy-based marinade perfectly complement the sashimi-grade tuna.
- Custom Poke Bowl: Whether you choose brown rice, white rice, or a salad base, the ability to mix and match toppings like seaweed salad, furikake, and crisp onions ensures your meal is exactly how you want it.
Insider Dining & Tips
Maguro Spot is a local phenomenon, which means queues are a common occurrence. To avoid the longest wait times, try visiting during off-peak hours, such as late morning or mid-afternoon. While the line often stretches out the door, it moves surprisingly quickly due to the efficient counter staff. If you are a first-timer, don't hesitate to ask the staff for advice; reviewers consistently praise the team for their helpful feedback on flavor pairings. Keep in mind that seating is minimal, so plan your meal as a perfect picnic lunch for the beach.
Location & Parking
Located at 2241 Kuhio Avenue, Maguro Spot is centrally positioned in Waikiki. Parking in this part of Honolulu can be challenging. We recommend using public parking structures in nearby hotels or shopping centers, or simply walking if you are staying in the Waikiki district. It is just a short stroll from major hotels and the beach, making it an ideal stop while exploring the area's iconic sights.

Delicious poke!
The poke at Maguro Spot was fresh and delicious. It’s a build your own concept with lots of choices. Even though it was very busy the cashier taking orders took the time to answer questions and provide feed back on your selection if the flavor profile clashed, and confirmed your order.
Be aware that this is counter service with a bit of outdoor seating.
The poke was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed!

Legendary
The best value Poke in the Waikiki area. There is usually a queue but that is not surprising. We ordered 2 of the Medium Spicy Spicy and it really is great tasting food at a reasonable price. We will be back
