Overview & Vibe: An Authentic Island Celebration

Germaine’s Luau has long held its place as one of Oahu’s most legendary traditional beachfront gatherings. Unlike the polished, resort-style luaus found in Waikiki, Germaine’s offers a raw, backyard-pāʻina feel that transports guests back to a simpler time. Situated in Kapolei, the venue embraces its coastal location, allowing you to enjoy the Pacific breeze as you dine under the stars. While the experience is unpretentious and rustic, it captures the essence of old-school Polynesian hospitality, focusing on the connection between the ʻohana (family), the land, and the traditional showmanship of the islands.

Menu Highlights & Must-Try Dishes

The culinary offerings at Germaine’s Luau are designed to showcase the classics of Hawaiian cuisine. Guests consistently praise the following items for their traditional preparation and flavor:

 • Kālua Pig: The undisputed star of the buffet. Slow-cooked in an underground imu, the meat is incredibly tender, smoky, and seasoned to perfection.
 • Traditional Poi: A staple at any authentic Hawaiian feast, the poi at Germaine’s is frequently noted for its freshness. Many locals claim it’s the closest thing to homemade, making it a must-try for first-timers.
 • Fresh Pineapple Coleslaw: A refreshing, crunchy side dish that perfectly cuts through the richness of the pork and other hearty main courses.
 • Tropical Mai Tai: No luau is complete without a cocktail. Their signature Mai Tai offers that quintessential blend of rum and citrus that pairs perfectly with the sunset views.

Insider Dining & Tips

To get the most out of your evening at Germaine’s, planning is essential. Because it is a high-demand attraction, we strongly recommend booking your tickets at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance, especially if you are visiting during the peak summer months or major holidays. Check-in can be a busy process; arrive early to beat the initial rush and secure a better position in the seating area. If you are relying on rideshare services like Uber or Lyft, be mindful of the departure process, as the venue follows a specific protocol for exiting the grounds.

Location & Parking

Germaine’s Luau is located at 91-119 Olai St, Kapolei, Oahu. For those driving themselves, there is dedicated parking available on-site, which removes the stress of finding street parking in the area. We suggest wearing comfortable footwear and light, breezy clothing, as you will be spending the majority of your time outdoors. If you have mobility concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to the staff when booking your reservation so they can help arrange the most convenient seating location near the buffet and the stage.

Horrible

This was the worse Luau. We been here a few times but this was not good at all and DEFINITELY wasn't worth the price. Won't ever be back to to this Luaua. A few years ago it was nice, seems like different people running it and definitely not the same. I knew it was gonna be bad just from the check in process.

So you make us stand in line to check in, then move up a little just to get to ANOTHER window for ticket.
It stinks out there, VERY BAD, not sure if it was trash but EVERYONE was looking around to see where that horrible smell was coming from. There are stray cats roaming around so.be prepared to wait for them to drop food near you.

Then the process of just LEAVING to get back to the bus is horrible. Almost like yall was trying to MAKE folks buy them pictures. One worker was trying to FORCE this lady to go to the gift shop. We were right behind her and I was WAITING for her to try to make us go to that gift shop. We all was trying to get back on the bus.

In the past, we was able to.just walk out that entrance wherever food was, but now it's roped off wherbyou HAVE to pass buy the pictures that you took. I don't like their tactics to get you to buy stuff.

Several people had got up during that show and was leaving, and most wasn't paying attention.

The lady on the mic trying to hard to sound like a radio personality and made it not genuine at all!!! Was just annoying. She was on the mic alllll night. Sounding like she was auditioning for a game show host.

The previous host (lady) in the past had a very pleasant voice and made it feel real authentic.

Yea, we been about 4 or 5 times in the past but it changed and won't EVER come back.
WAS BORING!!!!!

Worth going to this Show

I loved the show, The Tatto, The Flower, The Rich Buffet. I didn't like that after the show, we were waiting sitting on a bench for the uber in the parking lot, and security took us outside to wait. It's extremely lonely outside. That should be improved. Otherwise, very nice and the price is fine for 5 hrs. $180 p/p

Amazing slice of home!

Germaineʻs Luau reminds me of being at a pāʻina at our ohanaʻs backyard. The kālua pig was juicy and ono. My son, who now lives in Oregon, ate about 7 containers of poi cuz was so ʻono. The atmosphere, show and music was so good. For real felt like we were with family the whole time. Serena, the MC, was amazing! She gave me Loyal Garner vibes and goosebumps! My moʻopuna loved the whole experience. Mahalo to the Germaine ohana for treating our Oregon ohana to an amazing slice of home! Go try ʻem go!!!
