A Slice of Surf Culture in West Oahu

Located in the heart of Kapolei, Longboards Bar & Grill serves as a go-to spot for those seeking a laid-back atmosphere after a day at the nearby beaches. The interior leans heavily into vintage surf aesthetics, with weathered boards decorating the walls and a high-energy environment that peaks during sunset hours. It is the kind of place where locals congregate for cold drinks and comfort food rather than white-tablecloth pretense.

What to Expect on Your Plate

The menu focuses on hearty Hawaiian-style bar fare. You will find their signature fish tacos frequently cited as a staple, featuring fresh catch seasoned with local spices. The kalua pork sliders are another crowd favorite, offering a smoky, tender bite that pairs perfectly with a frosty local brew. The kitchen does not overcomplicate things; they prioritize generous portion sizes that satisfy a post-surfing appetite.

Local Observations

If you head over on a Friday or Saturday night, expect a lively, boisterous crowd. The acoustic volume can climb quickly, turning the room into a energetic hub of conversation and clinking glasses. While the parking lot can get tight during peak dinner service in this busy commercial pocket of Kapolei, the casual spirit of the staff and the steady stream of live music make it a reliable choice for a relaxed night out. Whether you are catching a game on the oversized monitors or just winding down with a cocktail, it captures a specific West Oahu energy that feels authentic to the neighborhood.

Got exceptional service and hospitality from Marilou and Landy. Portion sizes are large and filling. The freshness of the ahi is amazing and the passion juice is very refreshing here. Servers were very sweet and attentive. Best service I’ve ever had dine in.

This was awesome The food was delicious and fast and actually pretty cheap for buying full meals for eight people the servers name was Roxy and she was an awesome server she was interactive and called everyone honey which made me feel so loved. The live music and bay was awesome and the fans kept it cool. The only negative was the live music was almost too loud to hear each other talk but other than that I loved it. I especially recommend the fish and chips as this was very very good.

I believe Melissa was our server, she did an amazing job. The food was great, the ocean breeze, and the view just made this an amazing place for happy hour. The pork tacos were delicious!

This food is absolutely disgusting. I ordered a burger and it tasted so freezer burnt, I took one bite and COULD NOT eat the rest. Over priced, previously frozen (and not frozen well), thrown together without a care. The garlic fries and virgin piña colada were the only things that were actually edible. In addition to two All American Burgers, we ordered the poke nachoes, and Dynamite Calamari. I would not allow my daughter to eat the nachos for fear she would get sick, as we have a flight tomorrow. I have included a pic of the hideous/sorry excuse for calamari. This came out to approximately $130- Shameful!

Expensive, but we're in Hawaii at a resort. We had the pulled pork nachos, "ribs" (which was actually pot roast), mahi mahi, chicken sandwich on a pita, tuna sandwich on Hawaiian bread, egg breakfast and Hawaiian bread French toast which were all fantastic! The margarita I had was very strong, and the chocolate lava cake with ice cream was awesome. They do offer various drink packages for coffee and soft drinks depending on your length of stay. The Friday night live entertainer was wonderful!

We were really excited to try this beachfront, dining experience, but we were a little disappointed. The batter on the fish and chips was very thick and tasted super greasy. My husband ended up just eating the fish out of the breading. I ordered the coconut shrimp and I feel that 25 bucks for six shrimps is crazy to come with NO sides. The shrimp themselves were just OK - and no they were not jumbo. (The plate was small) The price point here is definitely off and the portions are a little askew. For instance, you can get a huge bowl of onion rings for 12 bucks and while they’re good … there is no other size. The menu, portions and price doesn’t seem very well thought out and the food wasn’t very good. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re on Oahu there’s much better places to go. Also, the actual dining area was kind of gross. There was water everywhere. The tables and chairs were gross.

Beautiful setting right on the beach. Great vibes. Slow service. Maybe they are on hawaii time, may have been short staffed. Nice staff. Expensive food. Maybe try happy hour. Sunset was thr best part of the experience.

Not sure why the raiting is so low, but I was close and decided to try this place out and it didn’t disappoint. My server Crystal was very attentive and nice, she helped me pick up the best options for both drinks and food. I ordered Longboards sunset to drink and ahi tuna nachos, and both were amazing! I’ve read some reviews about soggy nachos but I just had them right now and the chips were crispy and was abundantly covered with tuna and dressing. It also came on a bed of greens, which was lovely. The drink was delicious, enough sweetness and alcohol, great mix! I decided that I wanted some more food, so I ordered coconut shrimp too. All dishes arrived almost momentarily! What a service! And a pleasant addition is an amazing sunset to watch. You know what I’m going to say 😊 Highly recommend!

We had 9 hours before our flight home. Decided to try this place that is in the Marriott Vacation Club property. (I didn't know that when I looked it up on yelp). We drove over and Valet the car and walked out to the restaurant. All I can say is Wow! Great location in there lagoon area. A breeze blowing and the food was exellent!

Perfect view of the sunset. Excellent service! Everything here is great! My favorite is the Asian Chicken Salad. They replaced the chicken with tuna salad for me and the waitress said it looked so good she wanted to try it herself! Cheeseburger was excellent too! Best fries!
