About
Overview & Vibe
Tucked away at the base of the iconic volcanic crater, Diamond Head Market & Grill is a culinary institution for both locals and travelers on Oahu. Operating as a hybrid concept, it offers a sophisticated gourmet deli and bakery inside, paired with a nostalgic, no-frills take-out window outside. The vibe here is quintessential Hawaii: casual, vibrant, and focused on high-quality ingredients. Whether you are grabbing a quick bite after a sunrise hike or picking up a decadent treat for a beach picnic, this spot captures the heart of island comfort food without the pretense of a sit-down restaurant.
Menu Highlights & Must-Try Dishes
The menu at Diamond Head Market & Grill is a masterclass in Hawaiian comfort cuisine. Here are the items that define the experience:
- Blueberry Cream Cheese Scones: These are the stuff of legend. Large, dense, and perfectly moist, the tartness of the blueberries balances the richness of the cream cheese filling. They are a mandatory purchase for any first-time visitor.
- Lemon Crunch Cake: Often cited as a local favorite for celebrations, this cake features a signature light texture topped with a delicate, crunchy topping that provides the perfect contrast to the zesty, citrus-infused sponge.
- Charbroiled Plate Lunches: The grill side excels at classic island staples. Expect generous portions of marinated meats that are juicy and full of smoky, charbroiled flavor—the perfect fuel after tackling the Diamond Head trail.
- Chocolate Chip Cookies: Baked to perfection with a signature crisp edge and a gooey, chewy center, these cookies are the ultimate "treat yourself" snack to take on the go.
Insider Dining & Tips
Because Diamond Head Market & Grill is a walk-up and grab-and-go destination, there are no formal reservations required. However, the popularity of the spot means lines can grow quickly, especially during mid-morning and lunch hours. To avoid the rush, aim to arrive before 10:00 AM or after 2:00 PM. If you are planning a post-hike visit, prepare to find a spot on the outdoor benches; it’s a casual affair, so bring your appetite and your sunscreen.
Location & Parking
Located at 3158 Monsarrat Avenue, the market is perfectly positioned for those exploring the Diamond Head area or heading toward the beaches of Waikiki. Parking is available in the dedicated lot, but be aware that it can become extremely congested during peak tourist hours. If the lot is full, consider looking for street parking on the surrounding side streets, but always be mindful of local residential signage. It is a fantastic starting point for a day of exploring the best of Honolulu’s southern shore.

Worst chicken musubi ever
Worst chicken musubi I have ever had. Only had a few, small, dark pieces of chicken that had a very fishy taste. Very weird and awful

A Must-Visit After Hiking the Crater
A must-visit after hiking Diamond Head this April! The spring weather was perfect for enjoying a hearty meal on their outdoor benches. The plate lunches were incredibly generous, flavorful, and juicy. Definitely save room for the bakery inside—their chocolate chip cookies are to die for! They have perfectly crisp edges with a soft-baked, chewy center and gooey, melted chocolate. It's the ultimate comfort food. Parking can get tight during peak hours, so try to visit slightly off-peak!

Decadent pastries
OMG!! The pastry choices and the over the top flavors. You can not go wrong here. So many choices, you might feel like a kid in a candy store, but it’s pastries everywhere you look. We had the coconut pudding cake, the key lime pie and the chocolate raspberry cake and added some banana and blueberry scones to put it over the top. Absolutely don’t miss on your travel list.
